Not entirely sure, but I feel like last years wasn't available until the week of Qatar.  I believe they run the offseason package up to that point.

For those in the know, am I correct in seeing that high resolution is only 15 euro more a year? Is it worth it for the high res?

I don't have any FHE.  Maybe Derby will chime in.

There was a little discussion about it here last year

2011 Prices are:

99.95Euro = $139  HiDef
&
84.95Euro = $118  Standard

based on

1 euro = 1.3838 US dollars

derby

looks like they're offering 720p for the motogp races this year.

if you're watching on a big tv, the hi-res video pass is definitely worth it.

i'm probably going for top package again this year.

A couple years ago you said you were going to get the standard package since they were using flash and you could not archive the races...  What are they using now - still flash?

yeah, i think that was 3 years ago... as of last year they're doing h.264 (works on iphone/ipad). i still can't archive the races, but i figure the significant increase in quality is worth the $20.

i'll just download my archives from RU.

just bought the hidef package  ;D

it will be my first year trying it, but I am excited.

OT

I can't watch the races live...how does the subscription handle on-demand viewing?

I presume this is all via internet downloads (to my Mac) that I can watch anytime....including from the computer patched to the TV?

Derby - what do you mean by 'archive' (or the inability to do so...)?

Thanks!

mitt

You can watch the races anytime - live or afterwards. There are some demo videos you can try before you buy to see what they would look like on your system.  I use a laptop connected via hdmi to a 42" tv, so the hidef package was worth it for me.  The standard def only looks good on a small laptop or smaller screen.

By archive, I think derby was saving them off to his hard drive, so then he could bit torrent them so others could download them through a service like racing underground.  The flash system they use prevents users from saving them off.
