Keep some room in your budget for a new Helmet too, the Authorities here are more than a litte hung up on it being certified to meet Aust requirements.

Btw just curious if there is bike hire for Duc's in CA?

I've seen rentals for harleys, bmw and ducati 1098 but haven't seen one for monsters.  Maybe set up a cross pacific monster swap?

There is the Aus standards sticker but I have never had my helmet checked.
For the amount of time you might get to ride here it's less of a concern IMO.
