this is nice ...

IPSC

I'm an old IPSC guy. And not a very good one. It just got way too racy for me as far as equipment goes. That's probably why IDPA came to life and became so popular. Same sort of shooting (sort of) but IDPA just put the "practical" back in tactical shooting. 20-30 round stages are just goofy. And race guns are just that... race guns. They are nothing the average person would ever use for self defense at home or on their person. Given that, it's still off the damn chart to watch a world class tact shooter run a stage. Blows me away every time I see it. [thumbsup] [clap] [bacon]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

In Texas if you qualify with a revolver that is all you are allowed to carry. If you qualify with any semi auto then you can carry anything... wheel gun or auto. Honestly I can't remember if there is a minimum caliber standard. I'm sure there is but that has never been a concern for me and I have never seen anyone show up with a .22 for a certification class.

Evening.  I decided to re-acquire my CCW permit today.  Class is in three weeks.  I either need to buy a quality autoloader or practice with the old (probably older than I am) .357 Mag (loaded with .38s) that I recently was shooting nice patterns at 10 yards with.  Since I'm taking it with a bunch of LEOs, I need to at least look decent.

JM, Are your CCW rules in NC any different than here in TX? Like my previous post stated, qualy with wheel gun that's all you can legally carry. Auto qualy covers everything. Just wondering. ;D

Not stipulation on wheel v. semi-auto in NC.  You get the permit, you carry what you wish regardless of what was used to certify ~

The bigger focus of the classes in NC are the legal issues that come with shooting someone.  The performance thing is simple.   3.5, 5, and 7.5 yards in the paper and you're good to go.

Shooting qualy sounds the same as TX. 50 rounds spread over those same distances in a set period of time. And yes, lots of class time on the criminal laws regarding shooting someone is self defense. As a former instructor (not CCW) I think Texas has a good program and the CCW instructors I have dealt with have been OK by me. [thumbsup]

Too bad a lot of the students in the renewal classes are complete yahoos who shouldn't even own a gun!! [bang] Scary stuff for sure! :P

Here in Panama, the permit you get is a CCW, whichever gun is registered in teh permit you can carry ... New law wants to issue a "carry permit and an ownership permit" ... either way, I only carry my P229 since the Tanfoglio is full size pistol.

What Tanfoglio do you have?

So still a CZ clone.

Tanfoglio has added some nice features to the design. I was looking at them when I got my CZ.

Too bad the importer here has a bad rep.

Well, mine's polimer frame, steel slide ... light and manuverable, I actually wanted a CZ 75 or a CP-01 but, due to US telling weapon manufacturers whom to not to sell to ... unless DOS and DOD says it's ok to sell some guns to latinamerican countries as well as ammo ... we might get lucky and get some ... had to sell my SA XD40 due to cash issues when I was in between jobs 2 years ago ... miss it ...
