Hi all,

Don't post here real frequently but lurk often.
As well as my monster I  have another couple of biking interests.  I took a trip out to central Australia last year on my DR650. Posted a ride report on advrider.

Found here if anyone is interested, anyone else here into extended dirt based trips??

Cheers,

Ollie

Well done Ollie, great photo's an commentary. On a recent trip north I rode from Wingham to Wauchope via Killabakh and Comboyne and was surprized at how good the (sealed) road was from Comboyne to Oxley Hwy. Beautifull country.   [popcorn]  [popcorn]  [popcorn]

Ahh! Ollie,

Takes me back to when I owned an Yamaha XT500 and did quite a bit of dirt touring, the most memorible would have been the Birdsville Track, took my dad (SR500) with me, lots of fun.

Thanks for posting and great photo's too!

You get  [thumbsup] [thumbsup] from me

  Ollie,
I do appreciate very much, that when you have an off, in the sand and on the bridge, your first action is to snap a photo before you even pick up the bike ! It makes the story so much more dramatic. Putting the audience first.

Thanks guys. When I was dreaming about a trip like this I stumbled across the advrider forum. The ride report section was a massive inspiration and source of ideas. I found that reports with half decent photos really stood out from the rest.
When I undertook this trip I always had in mind writing a ride report, thats why I took the time to take so many photos. Writing this report now, 6 month's on the photos are a great way to reflect back on the trip, and maybe they might one day inspire others to give bike touring off the beaten path a go!
