So I'm an ex roadracer...... who isn't right?? Started riding when I was 8, I did the wera back in the 80s on a 82 CB750f, traveled to Spain, single cylinder 250's, did the gsxr thing through the 90's. Probably too many get offs. Too many head hits. The shoulder, and the leg and the neck all healed. In 1998 I started having some seizures- not good. So I did what every father of four would do...... I promised to quit. .....Simple............ no......... but I quit.

Time moves on

Ten years later I take my brothers 1975 Cb550 for a quick little trip around Green lake here in Seattle.  I actually stopped afterward and cried a bit. I missed riding so much my heart hurt. It is in my soul. I realized motorcycles are part of me. Don't really think I would want to race again but just enjoy good riding, feeling the air around me.

A friend of mine offered me his 1981 CB900f for next to nothing. I bought it. My wife cried. I hung my head but kept it. She has grown somewhat used to it. She's still not happy- but she's happy that I am enjoying life again. She has said she sees my happiness and knows I need it. Thought it would be what I need. But I'm tired of working on things just to keep them running. I want reliable so I can go out and press a button and know it's alive.

Started looking at a Harley XR1200. Really really liked it. Old school thing from the 70's. Kind of raw. Kind of didn't fit in to any crowds.

Then I got bit by a Monster. I went from a Harley dealer to Bellevue Ducati. OMG- This bike is exactly what I want. I rode a buddies ZX10- (Oh I did Love it- But Fairings are bad- just bad It did things to me I don't want in my life anymore) But the monster.... It has everything the Harley should. Handling, Suspension, Ride, HORSEPOWER.   I need one.

But I still realize who I am. I don't need and s4rs. I really don't want to spend the money on a new 1100. I have decided what I want. 100 horses (give or take a few) Lightweight, handling.  I want an s2R or an s4R.

I want it now- But I'm being the good husband and father. I'm putting a few dollars away. June 30th of this year I will have it saved up.  I will travel to get it. I will find it.

I have introduced myself. I am 77Jester- and I WILL OWN A MONSTER.

Once you get one, we demand photos!

Good luck on your hunt. Don't discount the 'classic' monsters too. And of course, there's plent of good info here, and plenty of people who like to answer questions

well said, and I think most of us relate strongly to this statement.   BTW, I've wanted a Monster since I was 13 years old.  At 21 I bought a suzuki 2-stroke, at 32 I bought a Harley and last year I finally ended up with my Monster.  Fully agree... the bite does not heal ;)

Monsters have not been around for 20 years, assuming you are 33 now, haha!

Yes... Once you see one, you will want it. I had never seen a monster in person just online and in ads. In fact, when I bought mine it was in pieces, and I built it back up and then I sat back and just stared at it for about a hour. I know many of us here have those moments too.

You are correct!  I was 15, not 13.  Good call.  My sentiment regarding the monster remains the same.
