hi
just came across a fact that on the 695 an oil cooler similar to the one found on S2R can be installed.
CAN Anyone verify this??
And if thats the case...... can the 696 be modified similarly?

Yes, an oil cooler can be fitted to the 695. Almost did that when I had one due to high operating temps. You just have to make sure you get not just the lines and oil cooler but the plate on the engine that has the tabs that the cooler connects to (i believe thats right, correct me if I'm wrong).

Dunno about the 696.

There's a Ducati kit that has all the needed parts to add an oil cooler to a 620/695.

Bubble, I think you're referring to one of the valve inspection covers.  On Monsters that have oil coolers, the intake valve cover for the horizontal cyl has extensions that the oil cooler bolts to.  620/695 Monsters don't have those extensions.

I'm going to guess NO for that kit bolting up to a 696.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

When I installed the Termi slip-on kit with DP ECU and open airbox on my '07 695, engine temps dropped 40 degrees.

Yeah, I didn't want to pay 2k to get my operating temps down to what they should be. Oil cooler with parts used was 300 bucks.

just looking at photos (of the 696) it seems that the exhaust from the horiz. cylinder kinda occupies the space where the oil cooler lines would come out of the block on other ducs.

are there even holes there?

There is an oil cooler kit for the 620.  I have put an oil cooler on my 620, most parts were from DML members off of different models and years  The inspection cover on the horizontal cylinder has to be changed. This is a simple mod, I didnt have overheating problems on my bike.  My bike is now a 750 from fitting barrels and pistons from an 800.  Ducati have taken a very modular approach to their motorcycles and parts from accross the years and ranges may fit, do your homework.  There is a huge pool of knowledge available through forums, publications and clubs.  Have fun .   [drink]

I have the oil cooler and the DP ECU/termis on my 695 and it runs very cool. I regularly hit 260-270 last summer but have only cracked 215 a few times since the install. I have the factory kit 695/620 kit on mine.

You can occasionally find them here for around $300-400. I got one from Duck-Stew but resold it to move up to the S2R.

You can also get them here: http://www.ducati.com/shop/product.jsp?catid=cat1040130&prodid=prod860178

Much more expensive if I remember correctly.

its not possible yet... or it will be impossible to fit a oli cooler in the 696? (due to "the exhaust from the horiz. cylinder kinda occupies the space where the oil cooler lines come out")

sorry to take over the topic for a 696 since it is originally a 695 topic.

Thats something that your mechanic or someone with similar abilities on this board might be able to answer. The 696s are so new that its just not common knowledge yet. I say ask your dealer if its possible to fit the 620 oil cooler kit or something similar.

I was told yesterday that it can be done...
how... I dont know...

Hope its true.
