um, what are the odds that these groups might also follow age?   [cheeky]

Pura Vida!

George (in Dallas)

Hey dammit, I rode with the fast guys for awhile... of course I had to run it to an indicated 162 to catch back to Ashok after being stuck behind the RV trailer from hell. Hell, how bad could my day be when I get to say that? Old fart my ass! [laugh] The old Gixxer loved it, nice day, hard run, lots of young Italian bikes to hang with... good day for the bike too! [moto] Like owner like bike!!

Again, just another freaking great day with the mob, no troubles, lots of folks, lots of great new folks to meet who will hopefully be seen again soon! I don't think we ran off any new folks, I certainly don't think so... hope not. Please, all of you join us again, don't be bashful. What a great, diverse, cool group of folks to hang with on an otherwise boring, hot June day in TX! Beats the hell out of mowing the lawn or washing the car! :P But damned if I can't get those chicken strips off those new Michelins. Guess I'll have to let the fast guys take her for a spin! [laugh] Need to stay out of the "touring" group!! [drink]

yes jim he wasn't after us he wanted the g6 that went by like a bat outta hell. although for a minute i thought.........."razim frazim f#*!n sh#!"

Short answer:  I didn't bail.

Long answer:  As he came up behind me/us, lights flashing, I pulled into the right lane (not knowing if he was coming to pull us/me over, or go after someone else).  So, I pulled in to the right lane between an 18-wheeler and car.  As LEO passed me, he "blipped" me with his siren about 2 or 3 times.  That made me think he may be trying to send me a message like, "I'm going up ahead to pull over all your buddies, but I expect you to stop too."  So, I stayed in behind the 18-wheeler as LEO passed him and headed on up towards yall,  I kept an eye out to see if he was pulling you guys over.  By the time I could tell he wasn't pulling ya'll over, I got stuck behind the 18-wheeler, and by the time I got around, you guys were so far ahead, I didn't feel like doing 100 to catch up.

However, I did exit on Basswood (a few exits north of 820), and found myself about 300 yards behind '1niceputt'.  But he never saw me - again, too much traffic to get caught up to him before he disappeared into a neighborhood off Basswood.

Was a fun day!  Safe and ticket free!  [thumbsup]

Great Ride! 300+ miles r/t for me. I had to take a nap when I got home.

Looks like a greg time. Wish I coulda made it. So jealous.

wished i was there for this, too.  after a test flight in the early AM, i decided to call a checkfire and bring it back up to the loft for a reevaluation.  the front brakes were going from mushy to grabby...they were undependable to say the least.  the rear is also dragging significantly.  upon a check of alignment the rear seemed to be a bit off, so i adjusted its position side-to-side as well as diagonal.  i also had a wheel weight loose inside my front tire, which i fished out yesterday (i'm getting good at this DIY tire stuff).  i then wanted to double check my rear, and found a bit of a gap between the sprocket carrier and the wheel...so i'm waiting to hear if that it acceptable or not.

looks like a great time, though...i'm going to get everything figured out shortly and will hopefully be seeing most of you soon.

Great Ride! Great People!  Thanks so much to everyone!  I had a blast.

Cyclone

Lisa , Alan, & everyone - thanks for a great time yesterday!  I really enjoyed the route, all the great help spotting and avoiding the hazards, the Doc's break in the middle, all the conversations, and the unbelievable thrill of being part of the spectacle of riding in such an awesome group!  This was as close as I'll ever get to living that Brando Wild One fantasy that I've had since, well since movies were in B&W !!  Even though I was in the back of the pack seeing the heads turn, the horses run away from the noise, etc. I got the full on hooligan charge  ;D ;D ;D!!!

I was even more impressed by what didn't happen on the ride - nobody hurt, no breakdowns, no tickets  [thumbsup], no real reckless behavior, AND nobody (me) left behind - thanks Fastwin for helping me find LBJ on the way home - yeah I grew up here but I still get lost!

I hit a new top speed on this bike of just over 100 when I passed the Harley dude on the way back to Decatur at about 6500 RPM  [clap]!!

So thanks again everyone - since the 97 Beemer GS 5th top gear ratio is 1.45  :P OR about 3RD GEAR for a 1098 Duc  [evil] sometime I'll lead & everyone will just have to to promise  ;) not to use 4th gear or higher  [cheeky] [cheeky] [cheeky]

The moral is : Even stock.. DUCS ROCK & you DMF'ers ( sounds wrong somehow  ??? ??? ) are the BIG DAWGS !

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

This was by far one of the best rides I've been on so far. Great group, awesome food, great roads and no COPs ;D.. what more could you ask for?..

I got stuck too close to that RV and was unable to see beyond in order to pass it.. and certainly did not want to keep slamming the brakes and pushing everyone behind.. I am glad you guys passed me and eventually we all got over it in time to enjoy the road ahead!..

Glad to see all the familliar faces and of course enjoyed meeting the newbies of the group.. You guys should stick around, this is a great group of folks!

Last but certainly not least, Lisa.. thanks so much for your efforts. It was a well planned and that showed. From here on out I'd like to propose that we all buy lunch/drinks for the organizer(s)... What do you guys think?

Have a great week..

Cheers

I'm really glad everyone had a good time yesterday - we did too  [thumbsup]

Just as a sidenote on the cooling vest I had on yesterday; if anyone is interested in getting on of these, here's my take on it:

I'd rate this vest as a 10 out of 10.  It made a huge difference on the ride yesterday; my only "complaint" was that it dried out too fast (after about 2 -2 1/2 hours...  I'm sure it had nothing to do with being 100 degrees and the occassional high-speed wind blast thrown in just for good measure   [evil]  ).

The good news is, you can re-soak the vest under a faucet anytime and you're totally back in business, which in this case was after the 2 hours or so it took to get to Muenster/restuarant, then again on the final return leg of the trip in Decatur.

Another good thing about the vest is that the water stays in the vest material so that when you take the vest off, you don't have completely soaked clothes.  Weird stuff in that vest for sure but whatever it is really works - worth it's weight in gold.

This was my first ride with the group and it was awsome! HOT,HOT,HOT, but very enjoyable. Thanks Lisa and Alan for organizing the ride. It was just the right pace for me. :) It was also great finally meeting everyone else. I'm bad with names, but after a few rides, I'll get to know everyone. Great bunch of folks you guys are. [thumbsup]

On the other hand, the other group I ride with apparantly didn't have as good a time as we did. This is a quote from their ride today:

"Warning....Stay away from New Hope. The sheriff's department isn't playing around. We passed 3 sheriff's department patrol cars on 2933 - one of which had someone with a black R6 pulled over. The trailing cars passed our group, one turned around and rapidly caught up to us, followed for a few miles and eventually pulled us over on 545.

We were told that a call had been placed complaining that we were riding recklessly and endangering others as well as ourselves. Absurd!!  For those of you who are LEOs on the board, I'm sorry, but don't make broad-sweeping assumptions. The sheriff said that typically he would arrest us for reckless endangerment, but he was going to let us off this time with a warning.

We were told that the sheriff's department will patrol those roads and if you are seen on the roads that they will stop you, take you to jail and impound your bike.

Time for a new route. "

Oh well, I hope we don't run into those "reckless riders" anytime soon.

Pics of todays ride to come soon!

Barry,

What Sheriff's Office was that? Jeez, they're gonna stop you, arrest you, take you to jail and impound your bike for what???... riding a legal, licensed vehicle on a public thoroughfare at posted speed??? Maybe if you were hauling ass threatening locals and livestock, but just for being there? That's crap! I've heard of New Hope but can't place where it is. That sounds like good old fashioned redneck cop harrassment to me. Makes me want to get some of my District Attorney, defense lawyer and Judge friends to follow me in a car with cameras while I peaceably ride up and down the road to see if they pull me over for being on a bike. [leo] Maybe they'll do to those roads like they did on 455 between Celina and Anna where they banned bicycle riders only this time they'll ban scooters! Imagine a country road where you cannot ride on a bicycle? I guess motorcycles could be next? :P As the thread says "That's Bullshit!" ;D

PS  Barry, good to meet you and your Kawi buddy! Please tell me his name again, I'm a dope with names sometimes and please tell him he is more than welcome back anytime. You're both are good riders and good guys! [thumbsup]

Man I could tell this morning that I rode all day in the heat! A little stiff and thirsty. Slept like a rock though. I had the house to myself (Jen was catching a movie with a friend), watched my TIVO'd Brit MotoGP race, had some spicy Thai food and a HUGE top shelf marg! [wine] Damn near fell asleep on the couch but somehow found the bedroom, don't even remember Jen coming home. Perfect end to a killer day! [moto]

I think it is the Leonard PD that is getting aggressive. Apparantly there are some squidly riders that frequent that area and the police end up profiling anyone on a sport bike. From what I hear, the people living there are calling the police about the bikes. [roll]
