so what is the deal with ducati island at laguna seca? what is there besides the models in bikinis?  antying else?  also what do you need to get in?

If you guys are right, things have changed since I last went to a MotoGP race there (in 2005).

Back then it was open to anyone; but to park your bike there, it had to be a Duc. I hung out there every now and then to escape the more crowded areas of the track. There was good food on the island (one of the only places offering a vegetarian entree). They had a display version of Capirossi's bike that you could snap a picture with. It was neat to chat with Doug Polen, who was there signing autographs.

It is still open to everyone but if you want free food and sometimes some free swag you need proof you own a duc. The key use to be good enough but to many people were taking advantage of the free food etc with out actually being owners.

To park at the island its first come first serve assuming you get the ducati Parking pass that is giving out at various locations before race day.

That's cool.  I didn't know people were getting free stuff. Maybe they were (back in 2005) and I just didn't know it. I rode out there on a Yamaha FZ6 (from central Texas). I was between Ducatis at the time.

BTW, I did a write-up about my Laguna Seca MotoGP experience. It's part of the "Iron Butt" ride link in my signature block.

At the Ducati Hospitality area in SLC at the recent WSB races, there was free espresso (important) free food (eh) and free water (very important).  Price of admission was my Monster registration, although my key may have worked, but I was on my Triumph.
Free parking was also available, to all brands, but my son scored me VIP parking at the Yamaha area that was right beside the track.
Tons of swag available, free "fashion" shows, if that's your cup of tea, and the Ducati truck was there with it's fleet of HMs and 748s.  Alas, we had to search out the Boulder Racing tent to see a Desmodici.

Last time I was there they also had free gear check for the races.  So nice to drop off your stuff and not have to carry it.

Unless things have changed, you'll need a "pass" to get your bike on the island. There was info on the ducati website. When you pull in to park they give you a pad for your kickstand...

If your not riding to the track, walking on is free to anyone. You can also sit in the bleachers and not see much of the race

Wow!!  I was there last year and all I seen were models, but not all in bikinis
