Anyone ever seen a M400 in North America?  The girlfriend is mildly interested in getting a bike, wants something sporty, only problem is she is 5 feet tall, she like my '05 620, but as she only wants it to commute to work on mainly side streets I though a M400 would be unique and small enough for what she wants.

So if you have ever seen one let me know, if it is for sale even better!

Cheers

Ducati ..... Ducati ..... Ducati ..... It just makes me smile!

Harley drivers in short/t-shirts/and salad bowls .... make me laugh.

There are no physical height differences due to displacement variance -- frames / suspension / etc are all the same.

There is a thread on here (or "how to"?) section that pertains to lowering of a Monster and different seat options.  Also post in the women's section of "local clubs" as quite a few have addressed the height situation and can make some great recommendations from their personal experiences.

Not sold in the US to my knowledge, Slowpoke, one of the members here has one and it it may be the only one on the board ~

They were sold in limited numbers here in South Africa, and as for physical size it is exactly the same as a m 600, m 750 m 900.
As I understand it`s a 600 motor with smaller bores [thumbsup]
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

It's just a sleeved M600/620 right?

And they very well may be getting rid of the M400 next year. It is under discussion in Ducati Japan I understand since the 696 seems to be doing well.

Japan is the only market that it is currently sold I believe.

A 600/620 would be the better choice based on price/performance/parts availability.

If you really want something exotic try an old style SS400 Junior, they are nice!

Yep its just a sleeved 600.
It doesnt have enough power either.
Its almost the same as riding a restricted 600  wi 33hp.

If it's a commuter bike on side streets that is not intimidating then a 250 might be better.

I heard Duck-Stew had a 400 motor for a project at one time.
