It's an interesting comment, I have a Kahr E9 and a P9 and love shooting both of them.  The E9 is easier as it's a steel frame but for carry, nothing beats the P9 for me, although I am looking at the new LC9 from Ruger...

I ran across this and remembered you were looking at them. . .

Ruger LC9 (Close Up)

hickok45 is the only youtube user I subscribe to.  He shoots and reviews TONS of firearms.  TONS.  I don't know all the background on him but from what I gather he has a bunch of land in the south and a small 80-100 yard range to play at.  Firearm manufacturers have sent him guns to review so not all the weapons he's shooting are his.

Some good info/history on the 1911

He has a "gong" out at 80 yards and (I believe it's this vid) he takes shots at it and you can actually see the bullet fly downrange and drop down and hit it.

I like the cigar ammo box! Nothing looks better than a bunch of .45acp in a Romeo & Julieta box. [thumbsup] Two of my favs, .45s and R&J #2s. ;D
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

If I was George Kellgren, I would be PISSED.

It is hard NOT to see how much the Ruger guns (LCP and LC9) "borrow" from the Kel-Tec P3AT.  I mean, even down to the slide shape, hammer style and how the 2-part frame is constructed.

Butg I have to say, it looks like Ruger did a one-up on them.  THey are much better finished.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Just got a 19, but live in the great state of CA so only a 10rd mag. Now looking for a shotgun to shoot slugs and bird/buck. 26" 870 express or something.

You are exactly right about the Ruger one-uping Kel Tec in regards to the finished product.  I have a P3AT and my Dad has the LCP.  No comparison in finish quality.  I don't really think Kel Tec really cares too much about how the finished product looks, as long as they work.  Both guns function flawlessly.  Kel Tec is a little cheaper.

I have both and they run like Swiss watches. They are guns that I couldn't care what they hell they looked like. I just want them to always work. [thumbsup] It's not like I was expecting a Colt Python finish on either one. They're tools.

Scotzman, you can never go wrong with a 870. Never. Or for that matter a G-19. My favorite Glock and shotgun. [thumbsup] Screw the Cali law. I'll send you a 15 rnder! [laugh] Better judged by 12 than carried by 6. ;D

Anyone here an expert in valuing historic firearms?  I have a WWII peice I'd like to insure but I don't have a contact who can give me an educated opinion.  All I'm looking for is a rough +/- 25% value.  As I live in Canada I'd rather provide the details over PM as to not bring any additional attention to myself and my firearms, I do have the approprite licenses to possess and purchase but still a knock at the door to see my gun safe is a PITA.

Because the market in firearms is limited to borders, anyone with a US valuation would be worthless to you.  There are several guides on firearm values (i.e. GunDigest and the Blue Book) but I don't think they offer any clue as to the value in the Canadian market.

For example, in the US, Norinco guns were banned from import due to Norinco's ownership by the PLA.  Values for Norinco rifles have gone up significantly as they are fairly good quality.  However, if I look on Marstar's website, you Kanucks can still buy Norinco pistols and rifles for CHEEEEAP.

Good point. Try to find someone in your area. If there is anyone. :P I assume you have checked your local gunshops... right?

You have both?  Makes sense.  I would love to see the robber's eyes as you throw down on him,two fisted from your front pockets.

Have you ever tried shooting two 1911's ala Bruce Willis Last Man Standing?  It looks pretty easy with blanks but wow do you have a tiger by the tail shooting full house 45 ACP.  It sets you right back on your heels.  Fun though!  Sounds and looks real cool but hitting anything except the ground is a difficulty.

Not with .45's, but I have had the pleasure of hard charging a silhouette with my Glock 10mm in one hand 9mm in the other.  It was a sparse volley of fire in which only a few mistakenly found the target.  Unfortunately, I just couldn't produce the goods when it came to tackling the silhouette and stabbing it with my Spiderco. It is a long story, but the point of it is, if a couple of guys you barely know from work invite you go shot at their "buddy's" house, beware, you may be unintentionally auditioning for an up and coming wannabe militia.  Luckily, they weren't impressed.
