S2/S4 rizoma rear sets vs m696/1100 rizoma rear sets vs woodcraft on an m1100?

I have finally decided to get rear sets for my 09 monster 1100.  I was going to just get them powdercoated to look like the 796, but wanted to go with a more adjustable custom option.  I love the look of the rizomas for the m11000 ( best looking IMO ).  However the price is about $250 more than the rizomas for the S2/S4 monsters that also fit.  For those that have them is there any additional benefit to the m1100 specific models?  Does the S2/S4 compromise any functionality or safety?  Side note I can also get the woodcrafts at cost, but not a fan of how the look, kind of cobbled together on the rear brake side.  Maybe they are better in person. Any addition insight or recommendations are much appreciated.

The rizomas for the 1100 have the mount for the optional passenger pegs. The foot pegs are spring loaded vs the solid mount on the S2/S4 version. I've got the 1100 set and love them, tons of adjustment. I also like the looks of the metaltech ones

Thanks DucNaked the metaltech ones are pretty nice.  Still looking for more insight on the 2 rizoma options. I am not concerned with the passenger pegs, since I will be going with the set from style and performance, which I think the woodcrafts may actually look good with. Hope to get more feedback. The bike is a weekend toy / occasional commuter.

I have Rizoma's M1100 rearsets on my M1100 and add +1 to everything DucNaked just said (I do love my Rizomas, but those Metaltech ones - especially the black - look great too).

IMO the only advantage in fitting Rizoma's S2/S4 version rearsets to your M1100 is the lower purchase price.  Reason enough.
And IMO the disadvantages are that they dont look quite so nice (although still plenty nice enough) and that your stock M1100 brake line needs to be replaced in order to fit.  I dont remember the exact issue, but I think its that the stock M1100 brake line is too short.  No big disadvantages there - I thought about going the S2/S4 version too - just not entirely plug-n-play.  And you need to factor in the cost of sourcing a suitable brake line.

Bumping up this older thread.

Does anyone know what size is required for the new rear brake lines with the metaltech rearsets? I'm measuring at about 30" even. Can anyone else confirm? Does the metaltech kit include the longer line?

Hey Racer713, I just installed the Woodcraft rearsets on my girlfriends m1100 and they are pretty bad ass. With the pegs at the lowest they will go they sit 50mm higher than stock and 10mm further back, this is with the pegs set as far forward as they will go. The brake line is dead on, you just have to unplug the electrical wire that comes off the stock brake and you can also set these up for GP style shifting if you like.

I sat on the bike and felt pretty cramped up however I am 6'2'' with a 33'' or so inseam.

My girlfriend is 5'6'' with, well...sort of normal girl legs, Hahahah...anyhow she loves it and it totally fits her way way better! On a side note she has the ducati lower seat so her bike is already 20mm lower than stock.

Hope this helps, here are some pictures. These are super good quality and from what I hear the footpeg is pretty stout and can take some abuse. If broken it is available for purchase just by itself. Good selling point IMO. I mean rather than having to buy a whole unit if you broke one. Just my 2 cents!






This last pic I wasn't done putting everything together, perhaps at 80% done...it was a teaser pic for my girlfriend and a bribe for her to bring me coffee so I could finish!  :)

I have never seen black anodizing that didn't get that color.

Ok, just making sure I didn't get a bad batch. I Must say though, my speedymoto top triple is a nice beautiful black.

Heat plays a role in fading.  Black color anodizing is made by going crazy on the darker colors (like blue or purple).  The expense of using blue to turn anodizing black is more than that of purple, so it usually fades this way from exposure to sun/atmoshphere.
Engine heat, and sunlight levels will speed this process up.

All ano fades in the real world.  The protective properties remain, but the colorized films do react with the environment.  That speedymoto triple will go purple too, it sometimes happens slower though, or is harder to notice because of placement on the bike, and the variation of color used to create the black.

Be happy it's not red (which fades to light pink almost always -- and much quicker than black goes to that deep black purple mix)

They were purple/black the day I took them out of the box.

It's from a smaller concentration of purple in the ano mix.  The purpling chemical I believe is less strong in large concentrations (ie, the metal fatigues easier, but is equally protected from environmet).  Each anodizer uses different mixes too.

The only part of the Woodcraft rear sets that are even a bit purple are the foot pegs. Everything else is dead black.
