It sounds ridiculous at first, BUT:

The sound is worth every penny.

Trust me, you'll agree!!  [evil]
2001 MS4; Full Termi w/airbox, ECU, SPS cams, CycleCat ClipOn Adapters, Apex clip-ons, CRG's, MW open clutch, Sargent Saddle, CF aplenty.. NOT RIDEABLE FOR A LONG TIME DUE TO MY STUPID LACK OF JUDGEMENT!!

If I had to do it again. I would buy the Termi's with DP ECU. Sell the Termi's & buy a full side by side exhaust. Not sure if Termi makes them for my bike ? ! !

if you are having trouble justifying the cost then get used ones. Ebay is your freind.
And remember there are other brands . Termignoni isn the be all and end all.

As long as you only change the cans you dont need an ecu upgrade or a filter.
This goes for any bike and came from the importer of remus and akapovik exhausts.
if you go for an open box or pods then you will need the ecu done.

One main motivator for the upgrade is the DP ECU, supposedly it will help the bike run cooler, which now is an issue, and to help it run richer -  the sound is a big bonus.

I think im going to go for it!!

Now, the dealer says no baffles, how loud is it really? will i need earplugs?

well mine is 600
and has the Remus DP hi levels on it.
The sounds isnt alot louder. But its alot deeper.

Its not ear splitting but i can imagine on a long trip it might get wearing.

Now that the 695 is the old model you might find that dealers heavily discounting the systems.
Ebay seems to always have at least one brand new old stock system for an S4 for about a half the original cost.
so with abit of luck and patience you may get a 695 one alot cheaper.

Most likely, I wear'em. They're pretty damn loud!!  [evil] Then again, my engine is a 916 w/performance cams in it, so the thing sounds like a freakin' cigaratte boat @ idle... Downshifting is the best part IMO, I've been told that the bike sounds like "the apocalypse is coming" as I approach!!   ;D

Though the 695 probably won't be much quieter.... Termis are just all-around loud, but it's a good loud.

What did you say?

What?

Can you repeat that?

Oh! earplugs?

No you wont need them!vI don't use them  ;)

For the wind-roar at highway speeds:  earplugs  [thumbsup]

For the Termi's on my 695:  no earplugs  ;D

Seriously, though.  They ain't quiet, but they won't destroy your hearing either.  Contingent, of course, on the amount of time you spend at red-line!

termi's and a open air box are something special to be sure, every time I fire my bike up it just makes me grin like a fool.

Seriously, Mom and I fooling with the Monsters, the both have Termi's on them and they are both 695's. Audio never captures it quite right but it'll give you and idea. The are both chipped with open boxes and filters too. BTW interestingly, mine is a little louder??

my termi story is rather SAD [bang] ...... one stupid car knocked me in the rear & the CF termi broke .... [bang]

707 - in winter get those pipes and shields ceramic coated - she'll look mean!

Termis are great - just put on some new old stock - manufactured 4 years ago - fitment was excellent, the carbon finish on the actual pipe isn't great (shields are excellent though??) compared to the german manufactured carbon I'm used to.

Sound is excellent and the engine definetly feels 'free' between 5 and 9k just seems to breeze buy...I redline/limit so much more because it just flies....and I ride conservatively!

Termi's on the 6 series sound like a must have!

enjoy the ride.

running the DP ecu and open airbox. But I'm running "brutale inspired" straight pipes out of the udder. Sounds perfect to me, quite loud. But I ride with earplugs. And the ECU made a world of difference, the S4rs is a real beast now, and it runs perfect. And yes, my warranty is still good  :)

IMO on DP Termi kits, it seems people are very pleased with the change in performance of their bike with the ECU.

But Ducati is perpetuating the racket but not making the bikes run well without the ECU.  Sure they run ok without it but they run so much better, and cooler with the ECU.

If you are purchasing the kit for just the sound, there are other options out there even for the 695 that are cheaper.  Although the open air box is a different matter.

If you're getting it for a performance gain + sound, than I could justify paying the price for the kit.

If you're buying it to fix running problems, like fixing the lean state, cooing it down, or fixing surging issues,  you should NOT have to pay for this fix.  Ducati should be ahead of the curve on some of these issues rather than lagging slightly behind some of it's direct competitors.
IMO if ducati fixed fuel mapping problems, and certain heating issues (695) they would end up selling fewer DP Termi kits.  And that means less $$.  So I don't doubt they are working on a fix, but the motivation isn't what it should be.
