Dainese  - Ducati Speed '10 Leather Jacket

Any opinions? Looking at this for an upgrade. I have Tecnic Jacket (bought used for cheap) now that's been crashed and it's WAY too big in the middle (52 US) although it fits OK right in the shoulders plus i don't particularly trust "goat leather' for a harder / faster crash.

I was looking at a 58 Euro for this as i wear a 48L suit US, thing is i'm an odd shape. 46" chest, 25" across shoulders and 34" waist (fit and bodybuilder). I want a jacket that is snug and will stretch to that perfect fit but not too tight, whatever I get I will probably need to have it altered to fit better in the waist.

Any opinions on this Jacket?

Sizing issues with Dainese? Should I go with a 60? I don't want it so loose like my current Jacket.

Probably will go try Dainese jackets on at the dealer, they don't carry this particular one (in my price range).

I feel like their stuff (jackets, at least) run a wee-bit smaller than their size-charts indicate.  I've got the Racing leather jacket in euro44 which, by the book, should be several inches too big through the chest and waist (yes, I'm tiny) - I'd say it's got maybe an inch extra up top and hardly anything through the waist.  They make NICE stuff though - Can't comment on how it holds up in a crash, but well worth the money for appearance and build-quality IMO.

I have a very similar build to you and I've got a Dainse Santa Monica in a 56 and it's a perfect fit. If possible go check out a jacket in person. The Del mar, Santa Monica and a couple others will have the same cut as the one you're looking at. I've found a decent amount of variation in the Dianese sizing models, so just a number might not tell the story.

That style of jacket is intended to be snug all over. The stretch sections allow for good movement, but it is intended to be a close fit.

For instance that 56 Santa Monica, perfect. 56 Air 2, good in the body, rather snug around the shoulders headed towards tight at the fore arms. 54 Shotgun, perfect. 3 different jackets, two different sizes and a good bit a variation.

If you;re unsure, just be sure to buy from a place that has a good exchange policy.

So a 56 is snug but good with my build (you have similar), would a 58 give me room to grow a few inches in the chest/shoulders in the next year or so do you think? I have been cutting for 5 months and will bulk again come September and probably put on 15lb or so in the legs, chest, shoulder areas. I want a jacke that will last for years before my cut my 48L dress suits was super snug and now it's totally money for fit, stupid hobby has me swinging weight up and down. Lol

Sounds great, thanks bro. Just the type of reply I was l was looking for. I'll be sure to try at the dealer first. Online will save me tax and about 50-100 on price over dealer so worth shipping back if it's too big or small.

If you're planning to put on more mass, then yeah, going up a size is probably wise. I'm a lot more consistent in my size as it's for sport, not body building. While composition may change a bit, overall it's fairly even as there's no strict cutting needed for me.

For your current chest measurements I'd say a 56.

Next season maybe a 58.

This jacket though, is cut for a comfortable fit in sizes 56/58/60.
It could mean that a 56 will be enough anyway.

To make things more complicated - a race oriented jacket, like this one(?), is IME about two inches tighter around the chest than normal Dainese jackets.

I'm sorry that this is not making things easier.

My shoulders and arms (length and size) tend to be the stopping factor with smaller jackets that would fit better... Lol

Bi: 18.5"
Waist: 34"
Chest: 46"
Shoulder width: 25.5"
Around shoulders / back ~55-56"
Weight 219lb
Height 6' 2"

I guess I'd better try on at dealer wish they had this Jacket.

So if it's 2" smaller a 58 = normal 56 but what's "confortable fit" is that code for loose middle for fat people?

I dunno, that's a bit the reverse of my experience. Like I want one of the d-stone jackets, and cannot fit a 56, which is fine for my Santa Monica. And much as I like their stuff the seem to use a different fit model for every other jacket... This one looks like it's the same family as the Santa Monica, Del mar, racing etc so should be good at a 58 for him.

Now, my AIR2 is tighter across the body.. but I found the Shotgun at 56 was looser around the shoulder than I wanted. Granted, the shotgun is intended to stretch-to-fit, so it makes sense to size down.

They don't make it easy to say you're XX size in their stuff

Based on those numbers you should go 58. I'm a couple inches shorter, with long arms, and roll around 205 with a 34" waist.

And you'll find that Dainese doesn't do fat cuts really. Yeah, there will be some room in the middle, but not that much. And if you stick a back protector in there, that'll kill an inch+ across the mid section

Yes will deft get G2 back protector also.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll order this week

Around shoulders and biceps indicate 58.
The comfortable cut would be mostly thorax, I think.

The waist allows for +/- 42 inches, so you'll need some alterations there or just leave it flapping.
Because your height means some folding of the front of a 56/58 while seated, it might be a good idea to not make it very snug around the waist.

Back protector.... a separate protector stays in place and is usually longer [thumbsup]

Great thanks.

I'll look at the separate back protectors also

Definitely a Body Builder's build.

I was into the weights for 12 years...really screws up your chances of buying off the rack.

You will have to try and accommodate your Shoulders 1st so you can get in to the Jacket plus your Biceps will be pretty tight, but make sure whatever Jacket you choose , that you can fit in a good Back Protector .

I'm guessing you probably have giant Thighs and Hams as well but for now we won't talk about Pants.

I don't know how much the waist can be taken in without the rest of the Jacket being compromised, so I wouldn't be so concerned with getting the waist just right.

You main concern is to protect your Shoulders , Elbows , Fore Arms and the skin on your upper Torso.

At 6'5" , 245 lbs. , I have found that the same size Dainese short leather Jackets fit me great and I have over 1/2 my age in Ducati Corse and Dainese Jackets.
