what the hell are those two tabs on the tank with eyelets?

I'm no Gixxer authority, but I think those are for a small piece of bodywork, goes ~ from the front of the tank to the steering head.

Is the fuel tank all actually a fuel tank, or is the front section the airbox cover?

If so, it could be something to do with that.

I think that's right.  It's the orange piece in this pic (the pic is a 2006 GSXR 750, but it's basically the same thing).

Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

Apart from being an extra piece to buy when you wad your bike up, what does the tank trim accomplish?
