Caliper mount spacing

Are the front calipers (gold) 40mm or 65mm.
Planning on a brake conversion on the darmah just doing some research.
'08 S4RS Tri, '02 VOR En450, MV Agusta F4 Tracky, Ducati 900 Darmah.

What bike are you asking about? 

Current models are all 65 back to 98?99?

prior are 40 mm.

Darmah had those big ones -- 108mm?

65mm/40mm spacers for all Duc's? Were they model specific or all models had the appropriately spaced callipers for that era?
I want to ditch the Darmah ones for later model with full floater discs.

If you want to put any later style calipers on the Darmah, you'll need an adapter.  I don't know offhand who sells them for that bike since it is geometry dependent.  I know Guzzitech has adapters for the Pantahs, but those are totally different forks and rotors.

There are PERIOD floaters for the Darmah/bevels, but I assume they are $$$$$ nowadays.  No easy way to adapt later model floating rotors there.  Maybe check EBC's catalogue as they've got quite a bit of items, maybe a semi-floater?

Yeah, well aware of the issues ahead, Bevel Heaven has the adaptors and gear for the kit, Its just only brand new and expensive to get it over here so I am looking for some bits to put it all together from parts. The discs and adaptors may be the only thing I will need to buy new though, EBC do a 280mm disc that will suit (I have 4 bolt disc mount)
I am really hoping to be able to come up with an option to run a 320mm disc (looks horn) but engineering is not my strong point. Anyone know a machine/engineering shop that might be able to provide input?

have you thought about upgrading the whole front end to say M1R marzocchi? you can use the 40mm brembos and 280mm rotors straight up. get some custom triple clamps and the appropriate wheel spacers and you're away, might even handle....

the only M1Rs that have the 40mm caliper mount are the ones on the 851 and they are $$$$$ when you can find them.  Paso 750 had them too but with the FO5 calipers and 105mm mounts.

Maybe I am missing something, it seems like a lot of work to change the fork size when I still have the same brakes. I can easily get full floater 280mm EBC discs, adaptors and late model calipers but I am looking to do it in an economically sound way with preloved bits.
Really gathering info now.

I picked up a master cylinder and lever off flea bay, need to source a pair of calipers next. At worst I will buy mounting adaptors and discs new.

Marzocchi made the M1 forks for a bunch of bikes (M1R, M1B, M1BB, etc).  Only the version for hte 851 had 40mm caliper mounts IIRC.

It's not a straightforward process to do what you want.  You have a lot of geometry to work out.  the easiest is to buy a new kit IF you can find and afford it (check on bevelheaven.com for ideas) .. Steve at bevelheaven can tell you what's the most direct route...

As far as pre-loved bits, good luck.  Be patient and search ebay hourly.

I just used M1R's as an example, they look classy and are italian, not like showas that would stand out like a sore thumb, but i didn't know they only did a few in that caliper spacing. a brake upgrade kit will give you better brakes but then you run into suspension issues from the added power causing other issues, again, just suggestions, but i am well aware of how expensive 851/888 stuff is!

I am sticking with the 280 discs from EBC, I have been in contact with Steve at bevel heaven and he says that the disc and master cylinder upgrade combined with the EBC rotors is more than enough. Even suggests that 320 discs could cause chassis or fork damage!
Also ordered a set of ohlins rear shocks so looking forward to seeing the postie over the next couple of weeks  [thumbsup]

Guzzitech makes the F08 to 65mm goldline bracket:

It's made for the stock rotors too, so you can upgrade the caliper without upgrading the rotor or use the EBC rotors with nicer calipers.

He also has them for hte 40mm type:

cheers mate, nice to know there are a couple of options, yet to see the bevel heaven ones but I have to say they are not the most attractive looking brackets are they! I think I will be anodizing them to try and hide them a bit...
