Which Exhaust for a S4RS?

Starting to get a little excited about the Akrapovic's, doing the rounds googling and finding some deals
Their only slightly more than Zards or Arrows, however even with a DP ECU they are cheaper than Termi's
Cheapest I have found is at http://www.morepowerracing-au.com/d9Yy885686480/Motorcycle-Exhaust/Akrapovic/Ducati/MONSTER-S4R--S4RS/2006-2008/c-1-73-725-10066-10132-28712/

So, a couple questions.... Would the bike run fine without touching the ECU to start with, Would I need to get it tuned with the new system?
ECU Options
a) DP ECU b) Power commander? c) Re-map current ECU d) Other suggestions

Would I need to open the Airbox? or not until new ECU map

What else would I need to do, I am fairly handy, so fitting shouldn't be an issue, however what is a Lambda Sensor....is that the O2 sensor?

Can't wait to change the sound of the stock S4rs.....I still fire up the M900 with full Termi just to get a bit of rumble in my life...

It will run but only just! You would have to tune it I guess it will run like a pig.

Those questions are the exact reason I went with termis! A couple of years ago there were many differing opinions relating to the tuning and fueling but With the air box dp ecu was the best option for me because I could not be arsed screwing around. Nowadays there is alot more info and technical products available to overcome the issues.

... and I also found this quote from some bloke called nickors:

"thanks for all the nice comments people - makes me want to do it again someday! But not this month, or next for that matter. [thumbsup]" [cheeky]

It has been over three years after all ... and shouldn't you have been out procuring a whole heap of new equipment that needs to go through the appropriate field tests?
Believe post content at your own risk.

opening up the airbox will have more of an effect on how the bike runs than changing the exhaust system, not sure if a PCIII allows for timing changes, if it does go for it, if not go for a DP ecu, removing the cat and leaving the ignition map std can cause surging/hunting, usually at a constant throttle which gets very annoying, i had this issue on my S4R and the only way i found to get rid of it was to use a DP ecu with an ignition map to suit a bike with no cat.

Yes the lambda sensor is the O2 sensor, mine is still in my exhaust cause I'm too lazy to change it and the bike works fine with it.

I'd say there are three options for ECU
DP jobbie which can cost a bit, but I'd you see Houston Superbikes (I think)  they have a few options .
Micro tech ECU from Carbon Imports which is more tunable than a DP being it can hold two maps.
Also from Carbon Imports you can have your stock ECU re-mapped to DP for about half the cost.

I have no power commander on mine and can't see a need for it with a good tune from a good operator.

Can definitely recommend the Zard exhausts, we also do Spark, which is another Italian brand we are using on the race bikes.. very good quality and they sound really nice too.. as for ECU, we can remap your existing ecu, or you could consider a Microtec which is fully tuneable, and can be tuned to suit the exhaust...

that's definitely worth a look, can't get one here for twice that price and even from the US they're a few hundred more!
