DO IT!! I have NO regrets. I went and listened to several systems before taking the plunge. You can go here for some listening pleasure, albeit from a cellphone it should get the hair up on your neck and give you the push you need.  ;D Granted this is a Full 50mm system but you will get the idea...

There are 3 vids with sound. Oh and feel free to check out the BST album in there if you like carbon and to drool on your monitor/keyboard....  [evil]

707 - in winter get those pipes and shields ceramic coated - she'll look mean!

Plus 1 on that. More black on that bike will only improve the looks. The 696 with Termi's on looks good.(side by side Termi's  [thumbsup] ) Sticker removal would be "MY" next mod  ;D

IMO on DP Termi kits, it seems people are very pleased with the change in performance of their bike with the ECU.

But Ducati is perpetuating the racket but not making the bikes run well without the ECU.  Sure they run ok without it but they run so much better, and cooler with the ECU.

If you are purchasing the kit for just the sound, there are other options out there even for the 695 that are cheaper.  Although the open air box is a different matter.

If you're getting it for a performance gain + sound, than I could justify paying the price for the kit.

If you're buying it to fix running problems, like fixing the lean state, cooing it down, or fixing surging issues,  you should NOT have to pay for this fix.  Ducati should be ahead of the curve on some of these issues rather than lagging slightly behind some of it's direct competitors.
IMO if ducati fixed fuel mapping problems, and certain heating issues (695) they would end up selling fewer DP Termi kits.  And that means less $$.  So I don't doubt they are working on a fix, but the motivation isn't what it should be.

Actually the lean state and the fueling is set up like it is to meet the new Euro emission standards.  Could Ducati change the setup for bikes shipped to the States?  possibly, but that would entail entirely new business and manufacturing processes and neither of those are cheap.

For the surging and stalling from what i've read they've fixed that under warranty for most and if memory serves the issue surrounded the o2 sensor ( again a new piece put in place to meet the Euro standard).

while I don't doubt Monster accessories and add ons are a big piece of their business model I have a heard time reaching your conclusion that they're leaving their bikes as you describe so they can sell more "racing" kits.

2005 S2R -- Mods installed: DP termi full racing kit, ST4 Forks, S4R rear shock, 999 Radial Brake and Clutch MCs, 4 pot Brembo Calipers, 320mm Snowflake rotors, SBK Quick change carrier, 43T rear sproket, Tomaselli Clip Ons, Cyclecat Frame Sliders, ASV Levers, zero indicators, Supernova taillight

While I understand and empathize with the problems around Euro 3 emissions, as a consumer, I don't care why the bike runs lean, just that it does.  From an article I read I got the idea that the Tuono's fuel map is somewhat adjustable without a $1000 ECU.  If this is right why does Ducati have this issue when others don't.  I understand that it's just the electronics and fuel injection system they had chosen.  IMO this is a down side to the beautiful and beautifully handling ducati.

I agree with you that Ducati is not deliberately leaving the bikes as they are to generate more revenue via accessories, BUT, I think that the motivation to fix an issue isn't as great when the dealers can push the kit as a solution to what could be considered a annoying if not troublesome issue.

And my dealer has shrugged off any concerns I have brought to them about issues around this.  They always point to an ECU as the resolution.  Which is why I'm biased against it.

On the other hand the Full Termi kit on my bike is probably what I'm going to do just because of what the people on this board say about the performance increases.

I can attest the increase in performance with the Full Termi Kit. Money well spent, every penny of it.  ;D :)

hey guys, thanks for all the great feedback. I've put my order in, the termis kit (low mount) and a 14T sprocket change are in the works for next week. I was able to haggle a little with my dealer since this is all happening at the 600mile service.

for now, the set up will come baffles out, but if i decide its too loud, is it hard to put back in? will the ecu need re tuning?

thanks, and looking forward to the many expected improvements.

I have only put my baffles back in once, just to see how easy they were to install, and had no issues.  I had to tap them in place and line up the screw holes.  In my opinion, once you ride without them, you won't want them back in.  As far as I know, they shouldn't affect the ECU.

Hope you like them as much as I do mine.
