hey guys and gals, i'm looking for an honest - private party value for my bike.
im looking to trade bikes with a guy +- some dollars, and i'm trying to get a figure of what mine would actually go for with everything it has...

2003 Monster 620ie Dark
13,700 miles on the clock
all maintenance done by local shop
Termignoni High mount aluminum exhaust
cycle-cat rear-sets
14t front sprocket
DID x-ring chain
motowheels clip-ons
painted belt covers
motowheels sprocket cover
cycle-cat frame sliders
tail-chop
Adjustable Ride-height rod
kerllerman halogen blinkers all around
probably a few more things i'm forgetting

First off, clean ride! 8)

I think a fair price would be $4k with $3500 being the lowest I would go.  Good luck!

Take off the rear sets and put stock ones on (buy some used if you have to). Save them for your next bike or sell separately. Cycle cat rear sets are gold these days

First, I've never actually bought or sold a 620, nor seem your bike up close.  So this is armchair reckoning.

Retail blue book is $4690.  http://www.kbb.com/kbb/OtherVehicles/PricingReport.aspx?VehicleId=67199&VehicleClass=Motorcycle&PriceType=Retail&ManufacturerId=150&YearId=2003

+ value for aftermarket (though not even close to what you paid, as a general rule).
+ value for service receipts
+ value for having 12k service done, if you have
+ value for it being summer
+ value for people having a renewed interest in bikes because of gas costs being higher than before

I'd therefore say higher than $4k, depending upon your local market.

$4000 to move it quickly.
$4689 to move it reasonably well.  "Below blue book, plus lower than blue book miles, plus tons of aftermarket!"
$5000 (or more) to be aggressive.  "Great bike, tons of aftermarket, low miles, service receipts, very clean, just in time for summer!"

Be sure to check your local market; my guesses could be way off, if others are selling around you for $3499.

Or put another way:

If I were a dealer accepting it as a trade-in, I'd go strictly below $4000.

If I were a dealer trying to sell it, I'd go $4999.

Yeah unfortunately all that cool stuff means is that you don't have to dicker down. I'd set the price around $4500 firm.

MrFryMoto

thanks guys
basically im talking to a guy about trading for his 2000 900ie
he's getting a bunch of service done to it right now, and i just want to be prepared if he decides that cause of the service it's worth more

Give us the details on the m900.   You might be looking at a pretty fair swap.

I was thinking 4-4.5K for yours.  It's in good condition and has a lot of mods.

As far as a trade, yours looks cooler, his is a 900.  Pretty fair I think.

Not to mention you get to do another tail chop ;D
