I am fortunate to be able to have two bikes - And as lucky, both beautiful Italian (My GT200 Vespa ; and the new acquired M696)

I have been communting to work on my Vespa and been doing so for a long time. It has always been my bike Jacket and perhaps, and an over-pants (with normal work shoes) When I ride my 696 to work (once o twice a week), I notice I would spend 10 minutes getting geared up, wear my riding boots, riding pants (padded), etc.

The level of "aggression" I ride on my busy road (Military Road, NSW) is different too. I lanesplit more on my Vespa than on my 696.

Am I simply paying more respect to what is a more powerful weapon? or am I just not respecting the road and traffic as much when I am on my Vespa?

Why do I "behave differently"?

Comments??

You're probably not as comfortable on the 696 yet maybe. I was pretty gun-shy of mine when I bought it until I understood it better. As you said, you've been riding the wasp for a long time. It won't be long until your as illegal on it as you are on the wasp :) plus I think a lot of step-through riders are under the incorrect assumption that they are safer than standard bikes and they are somehow protected  [thumbsdown] I see women riding step-throughs in the city with light summer dresses on and high-heels. I keep thinking that one mistake by a distracted iPod wearing pedestrian into their path and that pretty brown smooth skin is going to adorn the road.

With faint respect for scooter riders here........ ;)

Maybe like most motorcycle riders, you have a disdain for scooters and therefore feel fine thrashing it with the risk of writing it off. But you love the Duc so much, you treat it with kid gloves  ???

;D

Pony tailed, oil stained rolly smoking codger when on the SS, Fat old bastard when on the Harley, complete dick when on the R6, and latte sipping, matching leathers wearing wanker when on the Monster.

I only have 1 bike so cant really comment, but when i go on the back of my husbands bike i know what i am in for depending on the bike of choice.

900SS : Reasonably sedate ride (still fast for me and my prefered ride) and i feel comfortable.

848EVO : Rides it like a man possesed (way to fast for me and dont enjoy my knees up around my chest) and i hang on for dear life.
