Speculation

So Ducati is going to be rolling out all these new models over the next couple years..... I'd like to hear speculation on what the biggest air cooled monster will be... replacing the S2R 1000.  It is likely to be my next bike.

Thoughts?

For aircooled, I would look to the motard for leadership and for water-colled I would look to the 1098 for leadership.

Interesting.  I don't know much about the hypermotard engine.  So with that, the s2r 1000 would lose 5 hp? (90 vs 95)  But i'm assuming the motard engine has made other advances in technologies that make that irrelevant?

The Hyper makes less power due to a more restricted airbox.  One could assume the monster would restore the airbox volume and thus the power.

1100 motard motor is a 1000DS with a 1080cc big bore kit basically, and a few lightened internals.  Personally I am glad to see the return of the magnesium colored cases, but not sure if they truly are magnesium.

I'm still pulling for a 848 based Monster. 1098 is just more than I need but the 848 tuned for more low and mid range seems like it'd  be the perfect scoot imo. Light with power woopwoopwoopwoop [moto]

But the HMT 1100 makes more tq than the DS1000...

Just as long as they don't all look like the 696.  I am about to sell my S2R and I have hopes that I will be able to get another good looking Monster again some time in the future.

They ask... When will we see a Monster 848 or 1098?

He responds... I promise you will never see the 848 engine, or the 1098 engine in this bike.

That kind of puts down alot of the current speculation. Maybe they will come out with a whole new line that would be closer to a Aprilia Tuono

There has been talk about a seperate naked 4v model beside the Monster line. So that would still make his statement true.
