Just got my bike back from Speedys Sumner Park.
Found the guys attentive and enthusiastic. My mate (non biker) who helped me trailer my bike in watched them and commented the same.
They checked the belts, bearings, pulley etc and found all good except belts a bit loose. adusted it and took it for test ride to check. Charged 1 hr labour in total. $80. Sound is all but gone now. Cannot complaim about that!
This is an area you can really get nailed by unscrupulous people. Cars etc are the same. I was sweating blood but relieved when presented with the bill.
Spent another 30 mins or so discussing tuning options as they are a dynojet site as well.

Give em a try.

Just got my Monster 1000ie back from Speedys @ Sumner Park. I had lean issues so I got a power commander installed with a custom map. As the previous poster said the guys were very enthusiastic. I liked the fact they were very honest by telling me they weren't the cheapest guys to get the power commander installed but stated that they guarantee there work. They gave me a price up front. Bike is running much happier now and has a few extra ponies.

Hi Everyone,

So I have found several well recommended garages in Brissy however has anyone used a mobile mechanic?  I'm happy to ride over to garage for a full service but I need someone to come to me to actually get her running.
The only way to predict the future is to invent it.

I don't know any decent mobile guys but a bike should fit in a ute or trailer no problems if transporting is an issue.

Yeah, lacking both a Ute or a trailer.  I might give one of the mobile road safety guys a call and see if they can get it started and then do the road safety on the same day.

Most servos let you hire trailers these days. It might end up being cheaper to take it to the place you are going to get it serviced for them to get it running than getting a mobile guy to come out and get her fired up then take it somewhere to get serviced. You don't know how long he is gonna take to get her going.

Thought this might be a good item to have here, especially that there are lots of new people and lots has changed in the
world of bike servicing in recent times.
Can the other people from Adelaide,Brisbane and Melbourne and surrounds add in where there bikes go please.
You'll know better than me.

Thanks for that  - it is a very useful post. Silly question, while my Duc is under warranty, do I have to get it serviced by the Dealer? (Fraser Concord) They quoted me for the first 1000ks service and it sounded quite high compared to what Northside motorcycles was quoting. I'm thinking a mechanic with a smaller shop would be able to do a good job without charging Fraser prices. No?

macca

If you go to northside motorcycles make sure you get the quote in writing. A friend of mine took his bike there and the bill ended up being over $1000 more than the quote and they didn't even call him before they carried out the extra work.

I recently had some bike trouble, and called Desmo HQ in Byron Bay.  My dad's dealt with them before, and when I called Arthur listened to my story (see here) and suggested the jets/emulsion tubes.  Ordered a set, and had 'em in two days, along with some filters for regular maintenance.

Very pleased, knew the symptoms, knew the fix, had the right parts.

I know its been said before but good service is worth celebrating. I am loving the work of George & Shaun at D Moto... Thanks for the yearly service guys!

Gotta give Tim and Scott a wrap from Speedys Motorcycles up here in Brisbane. Scott is a monster owner and both guys have been great. Looked after both my 1098s and the S4R. They do all makes and can do some big hp mods as well as std servicing.

I'm glad to have finally found someone in Brisbane that shows some respect to my pride and joy.
You greatly underestimate the amount of overconfidence I have.

Thanks guys . Scott and I appreciate the feedback and positive comments.
Hope to see you all at the Xmas Party/Dyno Day 26th Nov @ Speedys Motorcycles.

Thanks again

Got an SMS from Bevan over at Euro Twins, they're open for business again in a new location:

41 Allison Street, Bowen Hills (Brisbane)

It's not as convenient as the just-down-the-road shop they had before, but I'll take it.  =)
