The only things I've picked up in Sydney.....were definitely NOT awesome  :o

so...you did well!

I like a drink. You know when people say 'I like a drink as much as the next man'? Not if I'm the next man, you don't.

In my humble opinion you can't beat freshly roasted single origin coffee.

I get my green beans from Ministry Grounds in Springwood NSW.

Our current favourites are:

PNG Peaberry, and

Indian Monsoon Malibar.

I do rate 7 Seeds and drop in every time I'm in Melbourne.

Might just be the right time to to fire up the Leva and have another  ;)

Woops..............so sorry mmick....wrong thread eh......!    How silly of me......... [roll]
But........Goldy.......got my Giotto back from De Bartoli today.......took your advice and got a triple basket, plus trying a naked head as well.........Oh yes........and their beans which they made me buy........Signature blend....ever tried theirs anyone.......?

goldFiSh

18 gram or 21 gram? I hope they were good to you. They stopped doing home visits, which is a pain....

Play around with the grind dose and pack until you get a consistent 25 - 30 second pour for 30 sec (or what ever your preferred measure)

Have not tried their blend..... but let me know your thoughts.

braando

Think it is an 18 gram basket Nick.......what do you use.........?

goldFiSh

had a 22, back to a 14 at the moment, going to try a 18.

Regarding beans, I've been flitting between Coffee Alchemy Goodness Gallileo, Campos Superior and Dark City, and of course, Mecca Dark Horse.

I want (read: need) a new grinder, and I've been patiently waiting for the Baratza Virtuoso Precisio to get to Au (thanks for the tip Bigiain). FiveSenses sells them but they are out of stock...

A mate of mine makes a nice coffee Nick, he is at "The Grocery Store", Crown St. Surrey Hills.....just up the road from where Matty had his exhibition........made me a triple ristretto the other day.....am still zinging......he uses a special 24 gram basket, naked head.......thinks that the Giotto may not like a basket of that size..........mine is a 14 btw, not an 18 like i said earlier.......Guiseppe is his name mate.........you should stick your head in one day.......uses Campos beans.......real nice guy, rides a 916 Ducati which is a bonus........I call in every arvo heading home as i am working at Paddington for a month or so......refuses to charge me  [thumbsup]

Thanks mate. Will definately check it out when next in Surry.

I'd agree that the Giotto would struggle with a 24. Went to alchemy today... Been a while since I was there since I no longer work in the area.

Just picked up some beans.  They were stupid busy, but still managed to have a quick chat with hazel and Dan. Nice new synesso machine they have.... They seem to be doing really well... It's good to see esp in the local area. If you have not been there, check it out.
