My mapping program says that the quickest way to the fun in Ouray is to go Cuba, Aztec, Durango, Ouray = 287 miles and about 6 hours.   That gets the hot, boring part over in the early morning and leaves the nice road for the early afternoon.   [Dolph]

That is the route that I plan to use, but I will be trailering the red bike, will have the A/C on blast and the stereo playing Vivaldi....  So, my vote doesn't count.  I will also go a few days early to scout the roads.   8)

Going through Tres Pedras adds about 100 miles for a total of 386 miles and is about 7 1/2 hours.  (St. Fe, Espanola, Tres Pedras, Tierra Amarilla, Pagosa Spgs, Durango, Ouray).

Adding Taos to the mix adds more miles and time, 406 miles, 8 1/2 hours.

So, there it is.... The challenge of small gas tanks, long distances between gas stations, Ducati's famed riding position, afternoon rain and the lure of the map-trap with more and more nice roads to ride......   [evil]

It's "map chess".....  Which route....?  Is it an opportunity  ;D  or a trap....?   :-[
---Anything worth doing.... is worth over doing!....
---How will you know if you've gone too far, unless you actually go there!.......

I know it will be longer if we go to Taos  :-\

but that's were need to go to pick up scott...

unless he wants to meet us in Chama?

i'm with Ed, the longer we take the more likily we will hit the rain the afternoon..so the early we get going the better chance we have making thro the pass better and not getting flash flooding...

But it's up to you guys...

Scott you willing to meet us in Chama?

ok so I'm mapping out a couple of ways to go up to Taos...

I'm in Tres Piedras. Not sure why you would want to go through Taos...

I could meet y'all in Tierra Amarilla (there's a gas station there)

-or-

Y'all could ride up here Thursday night, hang out, then we can leave from here Friday morning...

I am starting to really get excited! I will see everyone up there. I am leaving two weeks from today to go far north, Aspen, etc. then wind my way back through Grand Junction down to Ouray Thursday nite. Will ride Friday to Durango to meet up with the crew. Maybe with Ed or who ever else comes Thursday and wants to ride to Durango Friday.
