"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Next you'll tell him they make appliances that make coffee for you in your home automatically.

I feel your pain Rat.  I took my wife to get a catalog from IKEA in Tempe on Sunday.  Never again..especially on a weekend!!   I could feel my blood pressure rising as soon as I saw the parking lot.  We were there for at least 15 minutes.   That time included me dropping her off in front door, turning around in a handicap spot and leaving..sans catalog.  Apparently, they ran out of them until mid-August.   [roll]  She's going by herself next time!

it is one of those blood pressure triggering venues.....I can deal with Target and Walmart easily...

but places like Ike and Whole Foods make me twitch

maybe it is a claustrophobia thing....

I hate crowds in crowded places....

I feel the same way a person would feel

wading through the middle of a herd of anxious and twitchy buffalo

I have never stepped foot in an IKEA.

Whole Foods and Costco put me on edge.  People with zero consideration, leaving their cart in the middle of the aisle, while they wait in line to shove a spoonful of pork bbq in their mouth drive me insane.

I have taken up the fine sport of playing chicken with people that stop and eat or have oblivious conversations in the middle of the main thoroughfares. Also ramming unattended and obstructive carts out of the way can be fun.

I love Walmart.  Never been in one that was anywhere near as crowded as Costco.  Cliche but the people watching is fantastic.

You need to come visit my local store on a weekend.  :P

I cannot go there anytime past about 8:30 AM; my preferred time is around 7:00, prior to the mass influx of shambling mouth-breathers.

I think I just hate people. But Wal-Mart holds an extra bit of revulsion for me...

nope not any more...don't bother with them

and I have done my share of concerts, protests-turned-riots, riots turned all-out riots, Patricks Day parades etc etc

oddly enough a crowded subway car doesn't bother me

Love Whole Foods...especially the headquarters store in Austin. Lots of free samples of food!  Now that I think about it though..it was always packed and parking underground was a PITA

Whole Foods is a cakewalk...Trader Joe's is where all the aggressive shoopers are going!  :o

...and for those in the SF Bay Area...Berkeley Bowl. Damn...never seen so many rude hippie impersonators in my life!  [laugh] (they had great produce and fish sections though)

Ikea annoys me as well. But pretty much any crowded place that isn't a race or concert annoys me.
