I had a friend years ago that had one of the best shooting M1As (that wasn't a massaged NM gun) I have ever shot. It was a Devine, TX rifle and I even had a chance to buy it long ago. I have make the beast with two backsed up worse since then but not buying that rifle still ranks high on my personal make the beast with two backs up list. [bang] :P

I have a semi modern (80s) "bush" rifle. It came with a factory woodland camo fiberglass stock. Fun shooting rifle. I also grabbed one of those metal folding stocks at a gun show years ago. Haven't seen one since. Not sure why I got it. Bought it for the "bush" rifle but never put the two together. Honestly don't think shooting a .308 with it would be any fun. Damn sure wasn't with my H&K 91A3. [roll]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

Is it a Devine Tx. marked barrel or Radium Tx?....that is indeed a pretty rare specimen esp so if it is Devine marked...or even Radium marked

PICTURES!!

So I have it right here, can't find the camera.

It's not a pre Geneseo gun -- It's an early one with a Geneseo receiver but all USGI parts -- almost all TRW  and H&R marked that I can see.

I knew it was an early one, but I should have realized anything after 68 is going to be Geneseo.  It came with two stocks, the folder and a plastic/steel one.  Both have the same black crinkle finish and the folder is market "CMT" -- Choate Machine & Tool.

Barrel is marked H&R.  The serial number "003xxx" puts it in the Valley Ordnance range.

Sorry to get your wood up.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

yeah I hear ya....my 2 greatest moments of ordnance material stupidity were when I sold my 2 SIG AMT rifles
This is an insult to the Pez community

I had a SIG AMT too and a PE57. Sold both to pay for other toys. Try finding PE57 ammo in a hurry when you need it! [bang] The fact I had collected and hoarded surplus ammo for it helped with the sale.

As a confession and a "don't do as I did" example, my only AD I have ever had was with my AMT in my garage. Thought the mag I had inserted was empty before I dry fired the rifle... it wasn't. [roll] It had one round in it. At least I followed other safety rules. I aimed the rifle at my Browning Pro-Steel safe across the garage when it went bang. Ever wonder how loud a .308 is in a garage without ear protection? You don't wanna know. >:( That dent on my safe's door is a constant reminder to try and not make the beast with two backs up again. End of lesson.

What's wrong with a stock 1911 slide release? Millions of owners want to know? ;D And there are aftermarket extended ones if needed.

Quote from: fastwin on July 04, 2011, 09:31:42 AM
Yeah, just not getting the 1911 slide release problem. Although I certainly believe there is one for DarkStar. But I've got small/medium size hands at best and I'm right handed and I just don't have a problem at all hitting the slide release with my right thumb. And no, I don't shift my grip. Of course you could also try inserting a fresh magazine and with your left hand just pull back and release the slide and let it go into battery. I often use this technique on my Glocks. They even have a smaller release (except the 34/35s) than the 1911. But then again, if an extended release would work better for you then so be it! [thumbsup] No biggie. 1911s are great pistols, there is no end of goodies out there to make it exactly what you want. Well worth the effort in the end.

FYI: You were right.  It's not an issue.  I now just find myself racking the slide back by hand rather than using the slide release.   [thumbsup]

Nice iron here

SOCOM 16 M1-A

I can't wait till I can pick mine up.  Stupid 10 day waiting period.  [bang]

Sweetness!! Glad you found a way to make the 1911 slide thing work for you! [thumbsup] [beer] Whatever works for you and makes the gun your friend is all good. Everyone is different and what works for me may not work for you. Scooters are the same. [Dolph] Some folks never get the 1911 or Hi-Power gig. For those that do it's kind of an epiphany in the world of shooting. Still no big deal if you never get it. So many choices out there and so little time. ;D

Update on NFA/ class III purchase. I just got my form 4's back from the state police. I'm on my way to the dealer now to drop them off and pay for the tax stamp. It will only be a few weeks now before Ill have my suppressor on the range.

Some form 4's are taking 6 months to turn around.  My last stamp took 67 days.  They took 3 full weeks to cash the check  [bang]

Yeah, I don't really get the Mossberg "chainsaw." A cheesy way to address a problem that's already been solved for hundreds of years.

If you find the weapon uncontrollable, or can't hit shit shooting from the hip, maybe you should put a stock on it and aim. [roll]

Every so often I would have a student show up to my old defensive/offensive shotgun class with a pistol grip only scattergun. We would have a little discussion and fellowship regarding the use of a full stock shotgun vs pistol grip only. Most of the time they would park their shotgun and use one of my full stock loaners. Sometimes they would insist on using their version. Usually about one or two drills into it they'd be hitting me up for a loaner. They would often return for day two with a brand new shiny full stock on their shotgun. That whole aiming the weapon at your target thing took on a new meaning. Hip shooting looks good in the movies. ;D
