I'm looking to buy a Go Pro 1080p,I'm assuming this is the latest version ?
Dose anyone know of a reputable store and can you recommend what i will be needing in the kit  [thumbsup]

Hi Dockstrada,

I've found the Motor Sports pack is all that I've really needed. You can also buy a roll bar mount, if you want to mount to the front forks, or somewhere similar.

If you really want to mount it to the helmet, the motor sports pack comes with the necessary mounts.
I bought mine through a group buy on another website (Netrider) & this guy did a great price, could be worth mentioning it & seeing if he'll repeat the deal.; http://www.getonitsports.com/goprohdmotorsport.htm

I ordered the motor sports kit, 16gb Kingston card & it came to $435. The group buy price knocked $100 off this & that included shipping to me.

Good luck!

Can I ask if there is there a specific reason you chose the Go-Pro over something like the Contour HD? The Go-Pro is kinda boxy if you wanted to mount it on your bike or helmet, whereas the Contour is much more streamlined and smaller. The output is very good for both, albeit the Go-pro is a more solid construction if you drop it etc. The basic Contour is $299 from JB HiFi, based on my investigations its priced the same everywhere, dunno about the Go-Pro, I discounted it based on size.

yeah a friend has a Contour and it is small and the video quality is equivalent to a Go-Pro.  He just had a hi speed stack off his mountain bike and had concerns about the warranty.  He contacted the guys in the US and they have been extremely helpful, looks like he will get it replaced under warranty.  I am impressed and thinking of getting one myself.  It is small, fits anywhere, and has a name like a tampon, what more could you want?  [laugh]

I did look around & have to admit that the Contour does look much more sexy, but that was only one factor.
There was a group buy, I can take it on holidays and use it underwater when diving etc.

I'm off in just over two weeks to Fiji & the GoPro will definitely be coming with me!

The thing is great & quite flexible it its applications, so it was the one for me.

Yep, The 1080 is the current latest, there are a heap of kits to choose from.
If your looking at it just for the bike, either the Motor Pack, and as you mention in Title, a helmet pack.

I got a Surf Pack, then optioned it up with kite attachments, helmet, Handle bar, and a Grab Kit....lots of pieces.

You can also get a little LCD screen for them now....works well.

As in previous posts, I had a lot of vibration with GoPro mounts, so i ended up making one.

Video is much, much less shakey than by using regular GoPro mounts (Res reduced for Youtube)

Putty Rd Brief Vid

Note: IMO the helmet is not a great view for the bike. It doesn't really show the lean angle, the bumps, etc etc. I use one on my Mtb Bike, and it looks cool but doesn't show what is really happening...hard to explain. The chest harness is a great POV

Twizted

Is that an SV1000 in front of you?

cabron

Yep.....It was terrible, the sound, the stinky exhaust......If it wasn't for my good manners, well you would be seeing it in my rear vision mirror......No actually, it would be on Dan T's video....as he was tucked in behind me.... [Dolph]

Yellow Meanie

Here's some underwater GoPro footage. I've taken it down to 40m a couple of times now without any problems. They are actually rated to 60m!
I had the camera on a "head-mount", which is a mount on an elastic strap, like wearing a head-lamp.
Filmed in 1080p I think it came out pretty well. Although you can see it doesn't like low light too much when I go through the swim through (it just gets a little grainy)

Hippolyte Rocks

As mentioned, the helmet cam is a OK POV, however it just doesn't show ....the level/steepness/etc etc. The video's below are quite steep, and the rock drop off's are bigger than they appear (so I say). The only way to see is when my arms extend/compress..
Is is cool to see where you actually look though, side mount on a helmet is mmmmmm...lop-sided (It sucks...the small amount of weight actually affects alot) if you are to mount on helmet, put on top, or in front of chin....not on side, my mistake

Manly4

Got a couple more vid's uploading that show speed increase/ decrease quite well, however height/steepness etc, it just doesn't show..
