Just wondering if anyone has this jacket and what they think of it.  They are on closeout at www.compacc.com for $186, and they offer it in high viz yellow.

Thanks for the links.  Reviews are generally good.  I guess it won't replace my Olympia Airglide in warm weather though.  (I don't like the fit if the Olympia jacket.  Love everything else about it.)

I owned one and very much did not like it for three reasons.

First, its cut for a short fat dude.  Arms were too short, body/gut was huge in diameter.  I'm a very average, only moderately fat dude (5'10", 165lbs).

Second, its too floppy/loose/too many pockets, felt draggy and fluttered about in the wind too much.

Third, it was really thin and flimsy.  Riding in the rain at speed was painful, crashing would be worse I'd assume. 

I sold it on advrider shortly after buying it.

I have a first gear leather-tex ( I think), honda-branded jacket that's awesome so no hard feelings toward FG from me, the Kili just didn't suite me.

Note, my FHE was ~4-5 years ago, it may have improved since then, I dunno. The model I bought had almost universally awesome reviews and was very popular with the adv crowd.

I was looking at it and thinking about buying a new jacket. but really, my money has to go with scorpion. Ill throw up a review on it later today but look at the XDR line up Commander jacket. High viz yellow.

I have the model up, the XDR shock jacket. im 5'6 140lbs and i cant say that there is a better fitting jacket.

Thanks for the honest reply guys.  I am definately not super fat at 5'6" 155 lbs so the oversizing will be an issue. 

Really looking for a good quality textile jacket in high viz yellow.  It really makes a difference.  I bet I see a person a day do a double take when they are pulling away from a stop sign.  You know the drill you see the car start to pull out, then you see the front drop because they just panic hit the brakes.  Yup, they just noticed you because they didn't get a real good look the first time...

Going to look up the scorpion xdr now..

I wonder why Scorpion only makes the shock jacket in black?  (No visibility and it's an oven you wear on hot days..)

I tried on a tour master transition II once, it had a nice fit.  Not quite as thick as I'd have liked, but I think better than the killi.

because half of it is leather on it and you cant dye leather neon yellow so it would look totally out of place and no one would buy it. ( thats my assumption atleast).

I don't have any experience with the Kilimanjaro but I do have the Kathmandu.  I wear it year round in Seattle.  There are plenty of vents to offer good air flow in the summer.  I am fairly confortrable unless it gets up over 85F.  Water proofing is decent.  Although after 2 seasons, the flex panels near the inside of my elbow is losing water protection and is "leaking" a bit.  There are plenty of pockets and are well designed to keep things in and water out.  But I found them to be a little too small to access with gloves on.

I am 5'7, 140# with wide shoulders for my size.  The small fits me great length-size and around my shoulders.  a little roomy aound my torso.  Becuase of that, I have room fitting a fleece under it for winter riding (I ride as long as it's above freezing and the road is clear).  The cut /riding position is a little more up right than aggressive.  When I tuck, it tend to pull a little.

I picked up the Kilimanjaro 5.0 when it went on closeout 2 years ago at New Enough.

Its my go-to jacket "cold" jacket, as my other jacket is a nylon mesh and I haven't yet invested in some heated gear.

I'm 5'8", 250lbs, and for those with a smaller waist I can see where this jacket could be bulky. For me, the one negative is that the arms are just an inch or two too long, so I wind up with a bunch up of material on my forearms. Its definitely a long jacket, with the side adjustment straps landing right along my waist while I'm wearing it.

Its got two front vents (vertical, along the main zipper), two underarm vents, and two vents on the back. I only find myself opening the under arm vents when the weather gets up over 85 degrees. When the temps drop below 60, I throw in the liner and don't have an issue until we're down to the high 40s.

Speaking of the liner, it is pretty snazzy, and works really well as a stand alone jacket. Great for when you are heading out someplace on a weekend trip and want to stay warm off the bike in the spring/fall.

I wore this baby on my first trip to Colorado, where we went through mountain passes and high plains desert in less than 2 hours. The temps transitioned from 50 to 95 during that time, and as long as we were still moving and I had all the vents opened, the section in 95 temps were bearable.

Yes, it has tons of pockets. Not sure about the current one on closeout, but my 5.0 has 6 pockets on the front (two lower pockets, two upper pockets, and two side pockets behind the uppers), one hidden along the main zipper (perfect for a cellphone), and two velcro-close pouches on the inside. I have honestly never used the upper pockets. The liner has two waist pockets for keeping your hands warm when out and about. The outer pockets all claim water resistance, but I've yet to test them.

Huge  +1 for the Commander jacket. I have it (in neon yellow) and I love it! 

The only issue with it is that it gets too hot for the Washington DC summers (hot, hazy and humid) so then I have to switch to a full mesh jacket. But it holds up to the cold just fine with a detachable storm collar and 2 inserts: one is rain proof and the other keeps you even warmer.

i have used mine whenever i go on trips in the summer. but i usually dont wear much gear when jaunting around town in the summer.

I've had mine for four years. It is bulky even for me at 6' even 230 lbs. It's a long jacket but that worked well when riding my Multistrada. On the Monster the jacket binds up around my waist and the tail either gets caught under butt or drapes over the seat like a skirt.

The jacket has as much storage as a typical tank bag. The venting works well but I don't use this jacket in the summer. I use it in the winter usually with a liner. It's warm and waterproof. I've ridden through heavy rain and stayed dry except for the fabric inside the collar.
