Own a diesel small truck in the USA

I want a diesel small truck

There is no good reason not to have them here other than the fact that companies think they won't sell.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I don't know if I'd go stupid but I don't get why they don't sell them.

I did look at a diesel BMW x5. as soon as i saw the price I moved on. same with the diesel VW Tuareg II. It is just sick the mark up on them. Looking at new cars blows.

If Chevrolet made a Diesel Suburban or Avalanche, put me down for one!  Hell Id even go the Mitsubishi route if they made a 7 passenger with a diesel.

Maybe diesels are just too reliable/bullet proof. Manufacturers don't want all that planned obsolescence to go to waste.....

I can't explain why they won't sell these vehicles here.

Australian diesel has a lower amount of sulfur -- 10ppm vs 15ppm in the US

That's a negligible difference.  Cetane minimum in Australia is 46, which is essentially premium diesel in the US.

Speedbag

Just prior to buying my Tiguan, I had high hopes that I could get one with the TDI engine.

Dealer told me that the demand for the engine is too high in Europe, so they don't offer them here in that model. What a crock.

You want a truck, but I want a car.

I refuse to buy a VW/Audi and the Mercedes is more than I want to spend on a car.

Why can't I get a Camry/Accord/Civic in a turbo diesel?

I'd kill for a BMW 335d, but $45k for small sedan is ridiculous (maybe I'll pick one up CPO in a few years).

Toyota sold a diesel Camry back in the 80s.

I don't even need a mid-sized diesel pickup... I want a 1/2ton 6cyl diesel.

If I remember right, the chevy LUV was available as diesel for a while.

This begs the question though... how hard would it be to obtain one of the diesel powerplants from the holden and retrofit it into a US built GM/Chevy?  I know importing the whole truck wouldn't work, bu the engine should be fine.

Screw the trucks, I just want the Holden Commodore here in the States  :-[

And while we're at it, how about the VW Scirocco (in both R and TDI trims)  [drool]
