I had a great time on the "George's Southwest Ride" from BCM to, well..., I guess back to BCM probably. (I peeled off when the ride went past my house to head back north, so I hope everyone continued to have a nice ride. I'll bet things were faster for that bit.)

I finally got to put some faces to what until now had just been screen names, which was nice. There was a good lunch and interesting conversation, as well as a couple of noteworthy visual distractions, in Newport.

Now that I've had a chance to reflect, though, I think that probably the very best part of all was when some of the guys lifted my bike up off me so I could get out of the mud after I went wide in that left-hander. It would suck to be lying there still, cursing to myself, with the bike on top of me.

My wife was mildly upset that she was vacuuming and didn't hear a thing when the other six bikes went right past the living room. As predicted, she jokingly asked "so, did anyone crash?"

"Funny you should ask that, honey..."

The best part was when you crawled out from under it on your own after the weight was off of you.... ;)
