I just installed Rizoma risers, Rizoma conical handlebars, Rizoms bar ends and a Sargent seat.

The DP comfort seat sat a little high, but the sergeant seat keeps you low in the pocket. The Risoma bars and risers give you a great riding position with much less strain on your wrists.

I recommend this for anyone looking for a more comfortable ride.

As an added bonus, the black bars look great with the black controls and mirrors.

I have the same Rizoma stuff, including the ridiculously priced Lux grips, on my M696. While I like the way it looks, I really don't like the feel of it. I find the upright position to be comfortable, but not engaging (aggressive) enough. There's also something about the bend of the bar that bothers me, like it tapers back too much and puts my wrists at a slightly odd angle.

Maybe it's the sargent seat that completes the feel but I like it a lot. The original bars and seat were so uncomfortable to me I didn't want to ride.

Now it's a breeze.

I'm not an aggressive rider, love the 696 but I was looking for a more comfortable ride.

But I'm an old guy (53) so maybe it's just me.

I dont mind the taper of the bars at all, as a matter of fact I like them.

Norcoastal- recently purchased a 2011 696 Monster and took it on a multi-day trip.  I am looking for a more comfortable handlebar position for next trip (multi-week).  I have a couple questions:  I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, but the current position is really hard on my wrists and palms!  Is the angle of the grips positioned more toward rider versus straight, compared to the stock bars?  How much taller than stock (in inches) are the handlebars?  Do I need diffrent risers for this bar or can I use stock?  If I buy new.risers, how much higher (in inches) am I looking at?  Just double checking:  my understanding is that all stock clutch and brake cables DO NOT have to be changed.....is this correct?  Thank you for any information you are able.to provide!   

There is a Ducati Performance riser or high bar kit that comes with the appropriate size cables.

ninjarfs.. I had the same problem when I was riding my bike first few months. My palm would hurt to the point I would pull over and relax for a while. I would highly recommend the rizoma bars and risers. It made a lot of difference on riding. I also added techspec tank grips, helped me a lot on gripping the tank so I do not put lot of weight on my hands.

You might also want to look in to changing the stock seat, I got the dp seat, but have heard lot of good thing about seargent seat. While I had stock seat , when I brake and stuff my body would jus slide forward puttin more weight on the wrist.

And as for cabling and wire. I had a shop do it for me but the cables and every thing was the same. They had drill like three holes?.

Oh and Idk about other risers, but for rizoma risers, you need tapered bars.Stock 696 bars would not work .

I think mine has one more part. I will check it when I get home. At first the shop I did ordered those two parts come to find out the way screws are angled are different on rizoma as opposed to stock , so they had to get one more parts.
