Ideas?

Looking at the Sidi way rain boot.

Anything else a better deal?

Seriously, the Ways look pretty decent for $200.

ive been looking for a set of waterproof boots FOREVER in the $130price range. $200 is a bit much but if Global warming...ahem...climate change is any indication, we will be having more rain than not hell it rained damn near EVERYWEEK this summer...) then maybe a set of $200 boots will pay for itself.

i was looking at the TCX stuff. Teknic makes a cheap pair but every review has someone who says the sole comes off.

This month's issue of Moto Consumer News has a waterproof boot under $250 review in it.

I know...a little higher than the deal King wants to fork over,  but you maybe able to find last year's model on close out with your royal powers.

The low-down:

MCN best buy: BMW Allround ($235)  Uses Gore_Tex as waterproofing membrane.  Top ratings in comfort, fit, and protection.

MCN reccommended: Sidi Way Rain ($200) and Dainese Pannier ST D-WP ($249)  Both use a proprietary membrane made by the manufacturer and also recieve high marks for comfort, fit, and protection.

Stay clear of: Alpinestars Roam WP, Gaerne G. King, and Sidi Stivali Traffic Rain.

From personal experience:  B and I both have the Sidi On-Road Gore-Tex and neither of us have had wet feet when the top of the boot is properly covered.  If it were me, I would spend the extra on the BMW boot with Gore-Tex.

Drop me a PM if you'd like me to scan/email the article to you.

what about walking with it?

i know its a moto boot, but many of us would wear it in commute and then be on our feet all day... the boot would see faster wear in those cases unless sidi still sells soles.

I was very happy with my A* Ridge boots, but they were too low.

Higher model Roam might very well be worth their price

Sweet!

I wear AS smx + boots now and love them. I ended up with them because I was in between sizes with sidi.

I had some reservations that the Way Rains would fit well.

Can anyone comment on breatheability for boots that are advertising waterproof?

Am I going to end up with foot soup if it gets warm out?

That depends on what's outside the membrane.

My SIDI Vertigo Rain breaths very well even in warm weather, but the downside to that is that everything outside the membrane gets soaked in no time.

The A* I linked to have a more 'closed' synthetic outer, so I assume they will hold foot sweat. IIRC they were not super snug, so if worn outside the pants they might vent a little to prevent damp inside condition (?)

So, both yes and no - breathable is correct as a desription, but that dose not mean they breathe well.

I have a pair of Motophoria (now defunct) waterproof boots that do very well keeping my feet dry, but yes they make my feet sweat if its warm out. Not a big deal in Seattle though...if it's wet it isn't warm.

Which ones?

I found a pair of BMW allround boots in my size on eBay for $100 last night.
