and as to note for FP1

"Dry session. Stoner, Simoncelli and Abraham crashed, all unhurt. Stoner started cutting fast laps almost immediately, crashed, then cut more fast laps.

Edwards looked smooth and comfortable, and cut the fourth-fastest time of the session. "

now...FP2 results...

Hayden looked good out there.

Spies took a nasty tumble but still managed some good laps.

Rossi looked like he was riding a Vespa around  [bang]  I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the whole Rossi/Ducati ordeal

Apparently The Ben tucked the front at 167mph according to his data. Yowzer! :o [bacon] Bruised, cracked or broken doesn't matter. All those rib injuries hurt like a SOB! Been there, done that. Don't try taking a deep breath, sneezing or coughing... you will wish you were dead.

All around brutal race for quite a few

I hated watching Nicky get a good start into 2nd knowing that it was only a matter of time before people paraded past him.... Although oddly enough, he said he didn't have a good start. Everybody else's was worse

It's a shame that Vale lost the front like that. He was doing quite well despite the struggles all weekend.

No Jorge or Spies was weird.

Good dicing between Dovi and McFragilebones and good on Simo for that 2nd place

And finally.... Congrats to Stoner  [beer]

Wake me up next time anybody hears any good news about the GP12

Yeppers, congrats to Stoner. He earned it this year. Pretty dominate all season long. [thumbsup] [beer] [bow_down]

Hope Jorge's finger is OK by next race. It was weird having him and The Ben out of the race. Good for Edwards to soldier on into 5th. For years his plate number has matched his race results. It will be fun to watch him next season on a CRT bike. [popcorn]

Congrats again to Stoner. Great B-Day present!! Especially at your home track. How cool is that? ;)

Update on Lorenzo's finger injury.

Stoner had over 6 seconds lead, but in the last part of the race nearly crashed a number of times on the wet/dry track. There's a saying about Melbourne weather, "four seasons in a day" and Phillip Island is the same. Throw in new bumps from a car race and you get only ten finishers. It's such fast flowing track the wet parts of the track would be on you too quickly. I think the wet/dry parts of the track changed as some dried out while while other parts that were dry got fresh rain. It would have been safer if the track was soaked and they could run wets.

They got to move that race to the start of the season. Maybe this might be the last straw (Jorge, Ben, Rossi, the race teams, etc couldn't be happy) and they move it.

Even if they did move it, the weather might not be any better. WSBK is there in March before the GP season starts and can be prone to the same fickle weather. Its the location right on Bass Straight thats the problem. It would need to run between Dec and Feb to get better weather.

BTW.... congrats Stoner!  [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup] ;D [clap]

I was watching in disbelief when he pulled nearly a second on everybody in the first 2 laps. He had over 3 seconds after 6 or 7 laps. Holy shit  :o

Maybe they should implement tire changes and fuel stops to at least shake it up a bit.  Make em have to run both compounds during the race and cut the fuel tank in half.  We'd get a few more interesting results I think.   ;D
