Yet another 2V SBK

As some of you may know I've been gathering parts for a 2V SBK build for about two years now.  I originally bought the motor, frame and a few other bits from this build at duccutters.  I've been slowing buying other parts off eBay and forums since.  I decided to start assembling last week so I figured I'd post it up for comments and opinions.

Here's the overall view of its current state with the tank and tail just sitting on top:

The tail is actually pretty rough and I'm thinking about going a different direction with it... maybe a Sport1K race tail.

Here's what she looks like without the bodywork:

The rundown:
748 frame, swinger and rear suspender
SS900 motor and wiring
848 wheels
1098 forks, calipers, clip-ons, hand controls

I've powder coated the frame, triples and rear spring and plan on doing the sub frame, rear sets, clip on brackets, stabilizer bracket and some other small bits.

I'm undecided on how to finish the front end, my ideas are round Monster headlight, V-Rod headlight or the Aprilia RS250 (I think that was the one) race fairing.  The issue with the race fairing is state law requires a headlight.  Also undecided on paint, I really like the look of RB's flat orange Monster and Barfer's Sport1K, but Duc red with a white number plate would be simple and great looking as well.  I've still got a handful of specialty fasteners to order from Ducati and then figure out what else I'm missing.  What do you guys think?

I vote no fairing and monster headlight for a classic look. I like the idea of ducati red fender, tank and tail peice with white stripe.

Whatever you decide, it's looking super cool so fare [thumbsup]

How about something like this?

You could fit a race fairing and add a single projector instead of a whole headlight, I've seen it done on some 748 style bikes with a race fairing. Looks good so far [thumbsup]

I'd say it's worth at least one bag of popcorn  [popcorn]

Don't put too much money or energy into a fairing until we decide which way to go  8)

I think that NCR really works but I don't know if any one piece would look right without the rest of it.  It is another option though if they sell that fairing by itself.

I have three exhaust systems that came with it so I'll throw those on this afternoon if I have time and post up some more pics.

I say you should go with something Paul Smart-like....a small fairing and simple headlight and let it multitak and speak for itself...

Fun times!  I will watch your build for sure.

I'm getting further & further behind on my 2vSBK project since I've moved from Dallas back to Nashville...

+1 on that, looks identical -- been trying to make one just like it...

As for looks, I'd say as nekkid as possible! ;) [thumbsup]
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Thanks guys.  Yep, it is Paul's old build and tail, there is a link to duccutters in the op.  The tail is actually in pretty rough shape and I'm not sure it can be saved, I'll take a coupe pics when I get home.

@ato, remember the pics I sent you of the motor about a year ago?
I'm going to run it that way since Paul put over 3k miles on it like that.

oh yes, I do recall now.   with 3k miles, i'd say go for it too

Yeah, it may not be the right way to do it but it works and I'll keep an eye on things.

The tail, I think the only way to make this work would be to copy it in fiberglass or carbon, probably would have to finish the back side of it to not leave it open (looks unfinished) I think the back would then be reminiscent of a Shelby Daytona. Pics:

On to the exhaust.  I have a conventional 748/996 Termi dual muffler setup that everyone can imagine, also a set of megaphones that fit into the mid-pipe and mount just like the Termi's.  Those systems are fine but leave the bike looking heavy.  I have this other "system" that the PO made/had made.  I really like the look but I can't imagine how loud they would be.  I think it would be awesome to send them up to Mark and have his baffles put in a la boom tubes.  Really I'm just looking for a super minimal exhaust (1 or 2 pipes/cans) that work with the SBK frame and the 900 heads.  Pic of the set up:
