I think I'm flying down to help. Sounds like a killer weekend.

Damn, how could it not be? What's not to like? One of the guys has a wife with hard core Italian heritage and she makes her Mom's pasta sauce that's to die for. Steaks one night from the owner of the property who used to be the sous chef at one of the most classic high end restaurants in town. He could grill a damn tennis shoe that would melt in your mouth! [drool] And for fun he and I will do chili dogs one night. I'll cook the Wick Fowlers 2 Alarm chili, he'll do the dogs. The rest we will just handle on the fly between Bloody Marys, beer and margaritas. Breakfast tacos, deli sandwiches for lunch, brats/hot links on the grill. And I forget, did I mention drinking and cigar smoking after shooting? Sounds like a DIMBY with guns instead of bikes!! We might even set something on fire to make the get together complete! [laugh] [cheeky] [popcorn]

Actually, now that I think about it, the owner set the old, piece of shit mobile home we used to stay in on fire spring of 2010. He had a real house built (very nice!) and the mobile home was falling apart and critter infested. We drug it off with the tractor to the far end of the ranch. About 3/4s the way home he calls me and says he wants to burn it... do I want to come back for the fun. Shit I'm 150 miles down the road!! Couldn't go back.

Some friends come up from Austin, get drunk, call the Sheriff, volunteer fire dept. and neighbors to warn them and torch it! [thumbsup] The pictures were awesome! Flames were shooting out of one end like a space shuttle launch! The fire was so damn hot it warped the two main steel frame rails. They were twisted big time! On a later trip we used the bucket on his Case tractor to dig a big ass hole and buried the remains. Damn I wish I had been there. [bang] Nothing more fun than burning stuff or blowing it up! I obviously have my Dad's genes. [laugh] ;)
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I haven't seen that one yet -- but it's still cast not forged like the old ones.. :-)
Shoot a new one before you go getting all elitist. :-*

Nah, that's not what I was feeling, I am sure the new ones are fine.

Casting has come a long way -- all of Ruger's receivers -- rifles and pistols -- are investment cast and have proven to be excellent.  Most M14 receivers made today are also investment cast, in fact I believe most of them are made by Ruger's subsidiary, Pinetree Casting -- which also makes a huge number of appliance and automotive castings.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

IMO, CZ's in general are a great buy...both pistols and rifles.  High quality and reasonably priced. I guess there are some issues with the Huglu shotguns, but CZ seems to be standing behind them from what I hear.

The prices on the pre-b models are starting to climb though.

I know where there is a pre-b 75 that will be mine if it's still there after the house is finished.

Yep, I have seen the same thing -- the cz stuff is excellent.

What have you hard about Huglu?  I thought they were pretty good.  Turkey has a big firearm industry and we see so few of them here.  I was shocked how many gun shops there are in Istanbul.

I guess there have been some firing pin issues with the new semi and general quality issues. Nothing that warranty hasn't taken care of. You understand how all the happy people shut up and use their purchase and the unhappy ones spout on the net. ;)

I was there yesterday...nice try. :-*

The internet stops 1 house north of me.

The gun shop is 3 houses north. ;)

If this was a high math problem that would mean: Nate goes to the gun shop everytime he posts on the DMF.

So when someone asks them to check something online, do they say "The Intahnet cahn't get heah from theah" or is that just across the border in Maine?

Took the new .357 out for some range time today!  It feels great with either .38 or .357 Mag in it.  The sights seem a bit off, so we're going to take it to an indoor range soon and do some sight-in work with it.

On the other hand, C is a novice with guns and she did really well.  We were shooting at 20 yards and she kept all but 2 shots on the small 11x14 target.  I also showed her how to clean a gun properly today.
