Don't tell me you were cleaning your bike with the engine running? Did you not see the post a couple of months past where the guy was cleaning his chain while the bike was in gear? Bad things happen when you put body parts near moving mechanical componants.
08' S2R 1K   That was close  damn near lost a $400 hand cart.

Nope.

Towel was on the tank, slipped off while bike was on.
Somehow the belt caught it on the way down.

Sucks.

Did it jump time?  If not you can just remove the belt & set it back again. Crazy things happen.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.  - HST

I put the bike in gear with engine off and rolled it to spit it out.

But I think it threw a valve. There's a knocking sound when it cranks.

Yep, sh*t happens. Too bad it happened to my Lil Monster.  :P

Well maybe with some luck its only one valve or as few as possible and not the guides.  :-\

Sorry that happened to you. I hope it isn't what you think it is. You should pull the head and inspect it before you run it anymore.

Have you ever wanted a little more power?  Maybe this could be an opportunity to do a top-end upgrade. I'm not sure what there is for 750's. I'm sure there are probably higher compression pistons. Maybe you could fit newer style heads. Do 696, 796, or 800 heads fit on a 750?

Fast by Ferraci offers 11:1 and 12:1 750 pistons kits for $420.

Duck-Stew has complete 620 heads for sale right now for $125 each.

So for $670 in parts you could possibly have a new and improved bike.  You should call Duck-Stew to get an idea of what kind of difference you could expect.

So for the 'sexiness' of naked belts you got a towel in the cogs.  Nice.

It could have happened on the road, a pebble into the belts etc.

I've never understood open belts, open clutches etc, especially when you see rusted clutch plates and things like this.  I don't drive around with the hood off the truck, put the covers back on if its a road bike.

Unreal.
