Don't tell me you were cleaning your bike with the engine running? Did you not see the post a couple of months past where the guy was cleaning his chain while the bike was in gear? Bad things happen when you put body parts near moving mechanical componants.

Your thumb will thank you not to do this. Ask me how I know.  ;D

This is no good. I heard of a sport classic guy have this happen while wiping his bike down during warm up. Short of getting my finger drug though, I wouldn't go back to covered belts.

Good luck to you sir.  [beer]

Duck-Stew has complete 620 heads for sale right now for $125 each.

So for $670 in parts you could possibly have a new and improved bike.  You should call Duck-Stew to get an idea of what kind of difference you could expect.

Travman, I'm not sure if I should curse you or thank you. I avoided responding to this to allow some time for soaking in any plausible options.

Now it seems I can't get past at least ordering the 620 heads.  :P

I always try to use any bike misfortune as an excuse to do something good.  For example, a ding in the tank = the paint job I've always wanted.  It helps you get what you really want and to ease the pain of doing something stupid.  You can always tell yourself that you were going to do this anyways, the rag in the belts incident just was coincidence.

Seriously, call Stuart and talk with him about adding the higher compression pistons or possibly just the 620 heads.  He'll be able to tell you what to expect and whether or not it will be worth it to you.

I have a spare head for a M750.  PM sent, give me a call!

If you're like me, you are more of a threat to those open belts than road debris.
My gloved finger got caught in the vert cyl belt (M900). New gloves that are a tad too long.My finger was ok. I had grabbed the bottom of the tank to back up in the grass in my front yard when it got caught and died. Wouldn't re-start. One valve got bent. The valve guides were ok.
Yes, I still run no belt covers
