Ha, my favorite job of all time was being a bike messenger in the city..   i was young and crazy..  got hit 7 times and couldn't avoid 2 peds.. both their faults.  Think the ladies arm broke..   just didn't pay enough, even while doing 30 runs a day...

same here. if i had enough money to not have to live off the pay then I would go back to it.

ohh and i would need healthcare. i'm old and don't heal as quickly now. lol
Life, alas is very drear. Up with the glass and down with the beer!

impressed?

we would go to the one in the Bronx and it was horrible.  always a madhouse and always overcrowded with scum and villainy.

so glad when the Harlem target was built..

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Blackout

I've visited New York three times by myself. My wife hates big cities. I've walked all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. After awhile I sorta developed a stagger-shuffle like Ratso rizzo because my feet & ankles were so worn out. I like to visit in Fall especially. Spring's nice too.
Really New Yorkers are nice enough people. They just don't wanna be hassled by all the creeps you will find in any big city. I pretended to be lost a couple of times just to talk to people. Everyone has always been cool to me there. There is quite a bit of untreated mental illness in the city though too. Again, just like in any large population.
