Given those to choose from, I'd go for the 1000Sie.

true, with the chooses available.

Its the smater choice,

But I am still hard for the black s2r?

Im riding the s4 on Wednesday so if I like that I know I will love the 1000s ie as they look very similar??

I'd probably go with the s2r1k and try to weasel the dealer into throwing in the full 12k service plus new belts. Assuming the racks are removable

S4 all the way. Beautiful bike. Loads of power. Sounds tits with the Termis.

is this going to be your first bike?  why not get a 600/620/696 then?  the 900's+ have a lot of torque that can get you into trouble if you're new to riding.  plus, if you really are deadset on selling the bike in a year, why spend the extra money on the biggest bike?  or hell, why even get a monster?  a sv650 is a solid bike that can be picked up super cheap and should anything go wrong, is dirt cheap to fix.

This is my first big bike, I have been riding for 6 months clocking up over 5000 km on a Honda VTR250 and have really come to the limit of the bike,

I have always loved the look of the monsters and here in Australia I have to wait a year before I can legaly ride by myself on a bike over 250cc, I can however ride a big bike with someone who has there bid bike licence for over 4 years, so as I am apart of a bike club I cna get shadows easily and if I cant I can always ride my VTR250.

I hope this clears it up, and as for it being too powerful, most guys here in OZ jump on the R1's and CBR1000 RR that have way more power and are alot harder to handle, my reasoning is these monsters are a easier option into the world of big bikes.

again thanks for everyones input :)

They must have different laws over there is WA. Here in QLD we can ride up to 650cc as long as it is LAMS approved for the first year then after that you get your unrestricted licence. I rode a GS500 before I got my Monster.

Well

I went and saw the S4 last night, it was a little rough around the edges and really hadnt been looked after well, the owner was a champ however and let me go for a ride and shadowed me.

The bike sounded really rough with the termis and not a nice note, more like a an untuned harley and the power delivery was either on or off, I know I cant ride it well so didnt take much notice of that, but I didint really enjoy the seating position and the twin cans kinda got in the way a little and you have to flip the peg to put the stand down, it way a heavy bike and not very nimble at all compared to the S2R, so I was really a little dissapointed.

So my question now is do I drive down to Bunbury to look at the 1000s? as they are very similar bikes or just bite the bullet and get the S2R??

Oh and Jafa would you help out on a Cam belt change bro as I might need it sooner rather than later if I buy the S2R? oh and are these motors free spinning or if the belt snapps is it game over??

Thanks agian guys for all the help you have all been great

Thanks to every one for your help and advice!

I now am the proud owner of a 1000s IE and you cant wipe the grin off my face!

The sound the Feel, the fact it did over 600 km yesterday and my indicators and rear lights dont work now just adds to the experince.

That thing looks sharp, congrats!

Just take your time fixing the lights and all the little things that will pop up. Bought my M900 in September and just keep fixing the little things that need attention while continuing to ride the hell out of ot.
