Ok, not like I don't have enough to do these days...

But, I'm going to pick up 2 Ducati 160 motors later this month and a frame.

When I agreed to purchase the 2 motors, my thoughts were to clean them up, make them presentable, build mounts for them and top the pair with a piece of glass making one bad-ass coffee table.  At that point, I didn't know about anything else but the pair of engines.

Then, I hear that the seller has a frame and some boxes of parts to go with...

Oh boy...  Now I'm thinking of a cafe-racer or board-track project.

HELP!

Thoughts?

If you don't at least try, you'll spend an appreciable amount of future time kicking yourself and thinking "What if?".

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

Take an inventory of the parts and the frame.  For the things that are missing, do some homework and see if you can get what you need with out having to put a 2-3-4th mortgage on the house. If its manageable go for it, if not either sell or find other uses for the frame and boxed parts.

Do it, Stu.

These are old, relatively simple, and VERY pretty when done up.

We have faith in you.  [thumbsup]

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Can you make it look like this?  ;) http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=20478.msg959587#msg959587

Nope...the 160 is the MUCH smaller (physically) Monza Junior.  They can be very cool, though.

Stu, you should talk to Craig Canfield on the Bevelheads' List.  He just finished a modified Monza Junior and can probably give you the scoop on what to look for/expect in a refit.  I'm pretty sure there is a pic or two of his MJ in my Barber album.

"Voice of reason" my ass. [laugh] You're screwed and you know it. Two motors, frame, boxes of parts... oh yeah, you are screwed. Get out the checkbook and fire up the on line search engine. Remember to take pics! [thumbsup]

Ok, so I've got answers from a dust-bin racer to a chopper to more furniture to a YSR re-power...

If anything, I now have MORE options.  Great...  [roll]

I'm leaning towards a board-track racer themed minimalist bike w/spokes and drums and a very low weight.  But, I'm not decided just yet so keep 'em coming!

(BTW, failed to mention that 1 of the motors is nearly complete and the other...not so much)
