Looking for a digital camera for my Mom for Xmas.

Needs to be around $100-150 for cost, and be exceptionally simple to use. Oh, should probably take some fairly decent pictures too.

Recommendations appreciated!  :)

I cant recall the exact models, but in that price range, both Nikon and Cannon sell cameras that take very nice pictures.  Both have really nice lenses for the money.  Hard to go wrong with either brand, but any of the majors should be as good:  Fuji, Olympus, etc.

We recently got a Nikon Coolpix.

Not bad pix, should fit your price range, and even I can use it. ;)

The only P&S cameras I don't like are Sony.  I have had 2 at work, and both are battery hogs and so-so photos when compared to Canon or Nikon.

i take pictures constantly. and i have several cameras, including crazy expensive ones...
but for everyday out and about picture taking, i LOVE this camera http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=220326509&sellerid=10001650
i love fuji cameras in general. the color quality always seems to be better. but this camera is easy to use. has a good zoom, its waterproof & shock proof...my nephew actually dropped mine out the window of my car as we were driving down the freeway & i was able to circle back & get it & it still works perfectly. i love that its waterproof for several reasons, one you dont have to worry about the rain or if youre at the beach and you accidentally drop it in the water or in high humidity areas it still works perfectly...the other thing i like is it comes with a rechargeable battery & charger
