How would a 14T sprocket affect MPG

My understanding is that adding the 14t will make the bike  accelerate faster and reduce top end.  I saw someone  mention that it is easier to cruise in 6th gear at freeway speeds.  I am guessing cruising speeds would be at a higher rpm so the bike would be more responsive.   Am I correct in these assumptions?

Also, would this lessen my MPG significantly? 

I have a 696 if that matters.  I am currently getting about 48 MPG but just hit my 600 mile mark.  I am sure that will go down now that I can get higher RPMs.

it will go down a little, but not much.  I get between 40 and 45.  higher if I just freeway cruise the whole time.  I (04 620) get about 140 miles before the fuel light comes on.

On my S4RS I have noticed no difference in fuel consumption with the 14T sprocket (positive or negative) - I still get 30mpg or so.

I have a 696 as well. Installed termis and 14T sprocket. change/increase in RPM is barely noticeable. I havent noticed any drop off at the top end mayhbe 1-2 Mph at most

I used to get about 120-130 on a tank till the light came on before the changes and now I get about the same maybe about 5 miles less at the most. Hope that helps.

For the S2R1k, the 14t shaved 5-10mph off of the top end and maybe reduced the fuel consumption 1 mpg.

on my eighthundred, model s2r, i noticed no difference and i think i know why. i think in the stock configuration it is geared so high that you use more throttle to get going. so you use more gas at the bottom end of the rpm range. so i think adding the 14 tooth takes some away but it is a balance. i would suggest doing it though. it is the best 100 dollar mod in history..........

...11% more torque if you go down 1 tooth in the front and 7% for each teeth you go up in the back (i think i remember)

and i would guess 11% less miles on a tank...

i hsve an 800 and i had 14 front 42 (or 43) in the rear and lightened flywheel...all was done at the same time so the bike dramatically changed...cant really say about the milage because i never really look at it...when it needs gas i just gas up  ;D

i know 95/100miles is the furthest i have gone with such configuration but it was usually hard riding also...

06 S2R... 14 front, stock rear... 40-45 city, 50-55 highway. Pretty much the same as I got before the front sprocket.

I even did a cruising test last weekend... Highway in 5th and highway in 6th. I think I got like 3 or 4 better by cruising in 6th. But at the end of the day, it's twice the mileage of my car, and much better for my soul.

Same here. Commuting, I would be in 5th at 60 if I had the 15\t on and now at 60 in 6th it's the same average rpm and same basic gas mileage.

Is there a universal 14t or do I need to get the Ducati branded one.   I just set up my service appointment and am guessing it might take some time to get the ducati branded one in, if they don't have it.

i had a DP 14 that alligned perfectly with the rear wheel one but when i changed it (it wore out) the non Ducati one, did not allign with the rear...

the chain was not strait and it would touch my rear tire...i had to work something up with the mechanic (spacers 3mm in my case) to make it work...

The total thickness of the sprocket was the same but the offset of the teeth was 3mm off...i sugest you set the 2 sprockets one next to each other and verify they are alike...

Different model Monsters have different offest also. So NOT ALL ducati sprockets are ok...typ. 620 695 696 750 800s mount a smaller rear whell/tire and have a different offset in the sprockets...so make sure they match

What could hapen is that being that your sprockets are not allingned, your chain will be at an angle...as a result of which your chain will eat up your sprocket teth, and wear pout in the process...if the angle is bad enough, it might eat up the side of your tire too....

SO DOUBLE TRIPLE CHECH!!  ;D ;D
