Power Commander Wire Harness

Does anyone know if a 999 power commander or a S4R power  commander's wire harness will plug into a 2v, specifically an S2R?

Not sure if there is a wiring difference between 2v and 4v. I know the PCIII unit itself works for both, as long as you load the proper map.

I'm pretty sure the connectors are the same. Just keep in mind the main difference is the length of the harness. Each model of the PCIII for the different bikes are designed to mount in different locations on the bike.

For example the S2R model is designed to mount behind the left side panel and the harness is long enough to reach where as the model for the M1000 i.e. mounts under the fuel tank on top of the battery.

FYI the best place place to install PCIII on an S2R is between the front/bottom of the air filter behind the steering tube.  Although instructions say to put it under the side panel I found that it didn't quite fit on the S2R (2006 model).  But if you install it there you have to earth it in the mounting bolt for the horn.

I don't agree.

Best place is under the seat.  Hidden, but easy to get to when needed.

I dont mean to hi-jack, but which model power commander  fits/works best on an '08 S2R 1000???

Mine fits just fine under the tank on top of the battery, just like it did on my 800...

Not you NAKID.  Under the tank is fine.

It seems uclabiker06 put his where it could be seen.  Not my style.  The PC3 looks cheap in plain view.

you can see a lot of things on my bike. the DS1000 leaves little place to hide things in the front. It doenst matter if its too short, ill just snip the wires and extend them.

The main thing is, i need to know if an S4R wire harness will physically plug into an S2R1000 and work if i load my own map.

I plan on putting it underneath my seat, the area underneath the tank is already taken up by 2 ballasts.

Hell if all power commanders are alike and the Aprilia Tuono is anything like a ducati..

I'm not sure the Aprilia has the same connections or if the signal from the TPS is the same. In which case it wouldn't work.

You can barely see it unless you really look for it.  Besides you had to fabricate a bracket.  Anyways, for my bike under the side panel and under the gas tank worked out pretty horribly compared to where I put mine (and you put yours).

I've always wondered if there was any difference besides the mounting hardware/wiring between PCIIIs for different bikes.  Try calling Dynojets customer service if nobody knows.  The 1-800 number should be on the website.

not "IF" the tps is calibrated to give off a different signal (volts) at a given throttle %.

???? so what if it does, thats why you have a PCM to deal with it.

Thit is all hypothetical, and only applies if the TPS from different bikes send signals differently:

A given V will not equal your given throttle %.

a +/- in fuel at a specific RPM will be applied at the wrong time. Not a big deal if you go for a custom map, but tuning may get a bit confusing.

Canned maps will not work.

But in the end, I have no clue what I'm talking about, I base this on absolutely nothing, and I might be blowing this out of my ass.  That's just how it works in my head.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
