Crap..  need new swords..   just remembered stainless isn't sharpen friendly.    Maybe this spring steel one http://www.swordsoftheeast.com/springsteelwakizashi.aspx

Or would carbon steel fair better at decapitation and being light

carbon holds an edge better.
make sure they are full tang as well. no show pieces. you wouldn't want the blade coming loose from the handle inthe midst of defending yourself.

machetes seem to be a good choice too. light, rugged, multi-purpose, one handed use.

also try the woodsman's pal mentioned earlier

Swords are nice but so are these. ;) Nice sales price too. Cheaper than the local Bass Pro Shop sales price in their flyer. Nice alternative to the Woodsman's Pal tool.

I ordered 2. One for the farm for brush clearing and one for the camp box. Just wish the sharp blade side went the full length and didn't stop 2" from the end. Oh well... price is right and I will put them to good use. And besides, any zombies out there should watch their ass!! [laugh]

I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I don't know about that one.  If you use the hooked side, it might just get stuck in the zombie.  Of course, if you wanted to use the hooked side, it might be effective to hook around the back of a zombie's knee joint, in which case you could then pull the stuck machete back towards you forcefully, taking out said zombie's knee and perhaps even severing the lower leg while doing it, in which case the zombie would then stumble and become vulnerable for a decapitation blow from a regular machete held in the other hand.  Could become you signature move!  Hook, decapitate, repeat.
Ahh... but the servant waits, while the master baits.

i'm going over the mechanics of that signature. it couldn't be used every time, justa few here and there to set it in your companions eye's that you are not to be trifled with. (zombies have no emotion so they won't have a reason to take pause at attacking you)

i was thinking of the hook to the shoulder to pull them back and then the opposite hand comed in with the machete aross the skull. yours definately has more flair though.  [thumbsup]

I could use a signature move. I've been lacking one for years. ;)

Machetes are nice but I was leaning towards a SOG tomahawk for the final head blow move. Distract/incapacitate them with the Woodmans Pal thingy then finish them off with the tomahawk. Sweeeeet.  ;D

Again, I need a trademark move of some kind named after me. Besides the one about falling down drunk! [laugh] [popcorn] [beer] I'm liking the tomahawk/Woodman's Pal idea. Fear and loathing among your friends is not a bad thing... next best thing to actual respect. I believe there was once a doctor of some sort that wrote a popular book regarding that concept involving a town in Nevada. ;)

Hook to reverse side of neck pull down n chop..  ex..  left hand hooks zombie left side (your right) pull down..  zombies back becomes exposed, chop away..  maybe one is only needed than...  I like the double sided machet, full size one is damn long though..

I don't work for them, I am not affiliated with them, but I think they are cool as hell. Zombietools.net for all of your zombie slashing-stabbing-cutting needs.  I also mentioned them in the knives thread.  Oh, and in the event of a full scale zombie outbreak, I'm probably one of the first ones bitten.
