I just got word from my insurance adjuster that I am going to be fully compensated for my bike, added accessories includng the termis and all my gear i lost in the wreck.  [moto]

so this means I am back in the market for a new bike. I am deciding between the S4R and the brutale 910R. Aside from the obvious price tag difference, does anyone have any input on a comparison between the 2 steeds?

Statler

all about the motors.

do you like screaming or thundering?

the rest is details.

good point. IL-4 versus the V twin. I love the v twin man.. but that brutale is beautiful

The 910R is, er, for lack of a better word Brutal. Throttle is basically on/off.

Very fast bike. More upright than the S4R. Much stabler.

Gas mileage on it SUCKS. Think 25-30 mpg vs 40ish and up.

It has a five gallon tank to give it a reasonable range, but there is something wrong when you pay over $20 to fill up a bike.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

a new s4r (with the teststretta) won't get 40.

Wouldn't that make it an S4Rs? Or am I behind in my model years again.

Some have heard of my infamous quote that I've used on occasion for my signature line:

"I once had an MV Agusta F4.  It was like dating a Supermodel -- stunningly beautiful and
perfect.  Unfortunately she had no soul -- so I sent her down the road.  What I lusted was
that hot blooded and tempermental Italian mistress that would make my heart beat fast
with lust -- thus my introduction [back] to the world of Ducati's..."

This probably applies to the Brutale as well in comparison to the Monster.

current s4r is same as s4rs except for suspension and some carbon bits.  often it's called s4rt.

I was reminded at the track recently...a guy here on the forum had his 1098 there.  it was two octives lower than anything out there, including a 798 and an 848.   The sound was intoxicating from the hotel on the back straight. (I was checking in as they finished their day).

Big duck twins just do something for me.  Bikes should spit and cough a little at light throttle like they are a thoroughbreds wanting to run.

But high reving screamers do it for some other folks and the MV certainly is one of the cooler screamers.

I almost got the 910R very nice and overpriced.
If you don't mind the price, go for it.
The Ducati S4R is a Ducati you can't go wrong.
So it comes down to what you prefer more.
Both are great bikes.
Ducati _______
Speed Triple 1050 sold
Daytona 675 SE sold
Dark Monster 696 sold

If you like it a little more exclusive without paying the 30% name Agusta wants check out Benelli.
But yeah...this is the Monster board and you definitely should not swim to the other side of the river.
Can you afford a Tricolore ? Then all the discussion is off the table...

The MV has a smaller wheelbase......
