yeah i know the feeling of just wanting to take shit apart to figure it out.  the problem is that about 90% of the time after it's apart, there's that one piece that i look at and have no idea how it goes back in.  so i figure that i may as well mess with them in the presence of people who actually know something about them, so they can tell me how it all goes back together....correctly.

i have safety goggles...and beer, and carb cleaner...if someone can volunteer a garage wherever.  does this weekend work for people, or is that too soon?

Ron is again right about the gloves AND safety glasses. I was smart enough to wear my clear Oakleys using the Berrymans after having a bad "incident" with spray Gunscrubber cleaning a gun once. If they are good enough to be shooting glasses then they are good enough for parts cleaner. [thumbsup] Nothing like having that high horsepower jet of B-12 hit a part wrong and ricochet in your face! :P

i don't think you're giving yourself enough credit...i've broken far more than i've ever fixed, and i've forgotten 51% of everything i've learned.  mostly i think it's just fun to get in there and see how it all works.  that and the price of beer is considerably cheaper than $100/hour.
