Hi, Looking at getting a pair of boots. I don't have a huge budget and want something as comfy and with the most protection I can afford. I have found a few that I like and was wondering if anybody here has any FHE experience with any of them that they'd be willing to share. Feel free to post up anything else you think might work. Looking to spend under $150.  TIA

Not one of the boots you listed, but I wear the Icon SuperDuty 3 boots.  I like them a lot.  They are all day comfy and don't look like Rocketboy boots when you wear jeans with them...

I wear Sidi strada air,http://www.newenough.com/boots/sport_street_touring_boots/sidi/strada_evo_air_motorcycle_sport_boots.html $200-220 most places. They are street boots, not race boots and not over the top when wearing them with jeans as was mentioned earlier. Very comfortable and are well built.

I think the $150 ceiling limits you to boots that are not considered ones that are great as far as build quality, protection / Armor and comfort.

I would reccomend saving up some more money and at a site like sandhillsmotorsports.com you can get a pair of Alpinestars SMX Plus Racing boots that retail for $279.95 for $237.95 in a choice of 5 colors.

I own 4 pairs and they are great boots. Plenty of Armor on theoutside including PU Armor on the ankles, shin, toe slider, heel w/ stainless steel hardparts protecting the back part of yourfeet. Air vents for keeping your feet comfortable . Very soild but in touch w/ the controls soles. Inner bootie that snugs up w/ Kevlar laces that have a speed lock, and a racket strap to cutom fit the outside shin Armor aspect of the boot. A 3/4 zipper on the inner side of the boot and then the shin Armor plate closes the boot by a rachet strap which allows a custom

The boots are made of Lorica and leather which are what most highend Motocycle Racing boots are made of.

Call sandhillsmotorsports and ask for TJ. Ask for his best price for the boots and he should give you a 10% discount and the boots should qualifyfor free shipping .  Dolph

I got a smoking deal on a pair of boots from "The Sportsman's Guide"(just type it in the web browser and their site will come up). They carry a lot of stuff on closeouts and every once in a while they have good deals on motorcycle boots, especially HD stuff (mostly poser stuff, but good leather boots are better than sneakers). I bought a pair of Timberland motorcycle boots from them and before people start chiming in, these are REAL motorcycle boots with toe sliders and armor not work boots. Excellent build quality.

Look around for some leftover Oxtar TCS Evo RX. I have them and they are great. I got hit with a less expensive model Oxtar and they held up great considering the force of the collision. You should be able to find them in or close to your price range since Oxtar changed their name to TCS...

I was going to jump on the Oxstar SS performance boots that Newenough had, but they sold the last pair in my size the day before I tried to order  :-\  As for saving up some more dough, not really something I can do at the moment.  I want to get some sort of protection other than tennis shoes to finish out the season, and save up and upgrade during the winter for next year.  Thanks for the opinions so far, keep em coming  [thumbsup]

My newest pair is the Sidi Typhoon.  More than you wanna spend, but they're nice.

For sportier riding, I have the Sidi Vertigos.

I also have the Dainese Atacama and Diadora Express boots for everyday wear.

I've always thought buying shoes online is kinda iffy.  It never ceases to amaze me how much I may like a particular model (looks, price, functionality, etc) and have that whole opinion blown out of the water once I try them on.  Once you find a brand that works well for you, most of the time you should be fine but until then I'd look for a local retailer that has some tangible stuff you can put on your feet.  One of the local cruiser guys I ride with bought a pair of closeout HD boots and just ripped the patch off the side.  Now they're just black leather boots.  At that price range you may even go into a leather or boot specific store and take a look around.  We have plenty of boot and cowboy stores *sigh* around here, many of which have some pretty decent looking "non cowboy" style boots.

I'm all for buying cheap so you can get a better pair later, but there's no sense in dumping money into something you really don't like wearing.  I guess a lot of these sites have return policies, I just hate having to ship stuff back.

On to my actual opinion on boots, I used to have a pair of Sidi cycling shoes and they seem to typically run very thin so if you have wide feet, I would advise going a different direction.

I love my Puma Desmos, but if I'd ordered them online, I would've gotten the wrong size.  Got lucky and a CycleGear opened and they had them!

If you're looking for a good everyday boot that you won't have to change out of when you get to work, I'd heartily recommend the Sidi Champion Air.  List price is $185, but I got mine at a local shop for $160.  Great fit, lightweight, comfortable and good protection for a non-racing style boot.  You can wear it everywhere without looking like a geek.
If it's got two wheels and a motor, I like it!
