Someone is selling this bike locally and it looks to be a really good deal, but I can't find ANYTHING online about Dakota motorcycles.  I was thinking about picking it up as a starter bike for the girlfriend, but invavailability of parts/ an overall lack of reliability could be a deal breaker.  Has anyone heard anything about these things??

Here is Dakota motorcycle.  I doubt this even related to the bike in the ad, but you could ask them.

Yeah, I took a gander at their site, but they just had the one model and it's not the same listed on CL.  I didn't figure Dakota was going to give themselves a bad review so I didn't bother, just wondering if anyone has heard anything (good or bad) about them.  Unless I got a good review I was gonna let it slide.

800 bucks... you can probably get it for 6.  The Girl friend will ride it for 3 to 6 months and want a real bike.  You turn around and sell it for 8.

As long as it runs I don't see the problem.

I would stay away. Go for a Rebel or something. Stick with Honda or Yamaha or one of the other major brands for a beginner bike. There's other 150-250cc bikes out there you'll get cheap and be able to sell for more when you're done, plus you won't have to worry about them falling apart.
