Only 30 days left till the Barber Vintage MC Expo and races in Birmingham, AL.  I went last year and had a blast.

I've ordered new Pirelli tires and a DP comfort ("old guy") seat for this year's ride.  I'm excited and I'm ready.  [moto]

Anyone else interested?  Either one or two day rides out and back are OK with me.

Sounds like a blast, I kick myself in the @$$ (that's hard to do btw!) everytime I think about not going to Barber last year when we picked up Bonnie's Monster.  The guy we bought it from lived a mile from there and said we should deffinately go.  He used to own the Duc dealer there and raved about the track and museum.

Unfortunately I think I need to save my $$ and days off for the Hill Country trip........
Hope you enjoy and have a blast though........TAKE PICS!!

You need to check in with Leo (gt1000man), he lives in Atlanta now and I know he hit the event last year with his son. Leo has a GT1000 and his son has a 900SS or at least he did. Leo rode his son's bike (he hadn't moved to Atlanta yet) and his son borrowed a buddies 748. Best I can remember. I would absolutley love to go to this being sort of a vintage item myself. [thumbsup] [moto]

Tommy, I will give you that a@@ kicking myself! You are right, that was a big mistake. The pictures I have seen and the stories I have read about the museum make me want to be buried there when I die just so I'll be close to it forever! It looks like the best motorsport (especially bikes) museum in the world, or that's their goal. My dream job would be to work there.

The Barber Museum is something to put on your Bucket List.  It's the "Smithsonian of Motorcycles".  At any one time, there are about 600 motorcycles on display, roughly half their total inventory.

In addition, the race course is beautiful, great views although a good program would be a big help.

Life short - do interesting stuff.  Now!

I would love to make it out to Barber sometime, but there's a bit too much on the horizon for me right now.  Trackday and the HC trip are right in that same time frame.  Perhaps we should make that a trip in the spring.

George have a great trip out to Barber and please take a lot of pics

Nice thing about it is that the museum is there everyday. It's not like we have to go during the vintage days. It's always there. [thumbsup] No s#@t, what a great road trip. All though, boring as hell. I've done the slab to Atlanta several times to see customers. It's worse than driving to Houston, only further. :P

atleast you don't have to go all the way to Georgia!

You are right - it can be a mind-numbing ride at times.  Thank God, I'm pretty brain-dead already.   [moto]

The museum is open all year round - go any time you can.  I liked the Expo & races because of all the people and events: swap meet, displays by various groups (like the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club).  The fellowship and comraderie are palpable.  And it's fun to see what others are riding and how far.  Then, of course, there are the Harley folks who trailer their bikes in and ride only the 5 miles from their motels - poseurs!!!  [laugh]

sorry Brian, I don't think we were on the same page, I was referring to only having to ride to the museum, not going all the way to Atlanta.

[thumbsup] [bacon] I'm usually not on the same page with anyone. It can suck being me. [bang] [laugh]
