I guess all good things have to come to an end  :'(. I don't think this looks as good as the "old" monster but it's growing on me.

Replace those stock cans with aftermarket ones. It won't surprise me if there will be shotgun style cans available soon like on the S2/4R. Don't know what to think about the new routing of the exhaust either. Maybe it looks better in real life?

Tail chop will be a piece of cake it looks like, no actual cutting of frame as far as I can see. Just remove the plastic tail piece and add a plate/light/turn signal bracket.

Replace the footpegs with good looking rearsets.

Miss the trellis frame ofcourse, that's probably the only thing I really dislike about the new Monster. Hard to do something about also, but hey, get your welder and grinder and start modding for real and add a steel trellis piece to your new monster  8).

I'll probably replace my M900 for a S4r soon, hope they keep the S4R as is for 09...... ???

The problem with these new rear sets are the same as the older, non S*R style, Monsters; if you change the rear sets, you lose the passenger pegs. I don't ride with passengers, but if I wanted too, all I have to do is put them back on....

I like it!  [moto]

I don't like the hybrid frame, it looks cheap like the Kawi 650 but the rest of the bike is a bullseye to me!

I probably won't be enticed to buy one because I love my very modded S2R1000 but I will seriously consider a new bike when the 1098 version comes out  [clap]

I think that with the SSSA, it looks better than the 696.

No way  [evil] Of course, it can be modded, but will still be over-designed and will still look like a jap.

Even as stock I fell in love with the S*R models at first sight - that is not going to happen with the new design. Since they changed what I fell in love with, I feel within my right to hit on her sister (the new Hyper, Multi or Fighter).

Ducati has not let me down - the Monster design team has  :-\
252,000 km/seventeen years - loving it

What I don't understand is why go with a similar, but not the same sss as the 1098? It would cost them less money and it looks better than this thing. I don't hate the bike, but I don't like it. I won't be buying it, especially considering I got a similar bike (2006 S2R1K bought in 2007) for $5000 less OTD....

Makes sense to me: use the swingarm and engine of the Hypermotard for the Monster, and use the swingarm and engine of the 1098 to build the HyperFighter. I would have liked it better though if they'd used the 1098 swingarm for the monster (like the Indy one).

Edit: Seems I was wrong; they are using a complete new swingarm.

Your pics don't work for some reason. They work on your photobucket, but they don't work full size....

I can't vote since my opinion isn't represented. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either....

+1

Looks like it might be time for me to tighten the belt and buy another S?R while they are still available.  I will not have one of these in my garage.

The swingarm is a huge improvement  over the ugly POS that was on the S*R.

I get the fat girl in the pink mini skirt part, but what do the oakleys have to do with the comparison?
