I have an 02 monster ready for the 6000 service.  can anyone recommend a cheap but quality place to get this done in SF?

I just scheduled my bike for the 18k service and they quoted me @ $600 for parts and labor.  Haven't really shopped around but they perform so well I don't feel I have to.  It was in for an oil change once and without asking checked the bike and fixed an electrical glitch I didn't know I had, for free!  Good people.

If you don't mind an hour ride/drive, then try Nichols in Milpitas.

I think dealers would be a bit more...and you'd probably have to wait a bit longer.

I'm not sure, but desmoto said they could do it in a day, just waiting for the tires to get in  ;D

According to the Nichols site:

http://www.nicholsmfg.com/service.html

Your service should be $300.

a.) no vehicle b.) literally have metal showing through my rubber and I don't want to risk it. c.) if I got it down there, I'd have no ride back to the city.

b. Go to Super Tire Guy in SF to get a new tire, then ride down.
c. Ask the board if someone can give you a ride back

They ain't far from the light rail (or bus, iirc), and from there you can hop on the caltrain. Might take two hours to get home, but bring a book, a cold drink, and bask in the warm glow of saving some cash.

Or beg one of the south bayers to give you a ride to caltrain or some such.
